I have a 2001 4x4 6 speed how much lube and what kind would you recommend for my transmission and transfer case

Personally, I use the factory fill, which is Pennzoil Synchromesh. Klenger discusses it here.

You need almost 5 quarts (specification is 9. 5 pints).
