Do You Mine Your Face for Moon Rocks?

Diesel bike

Does anyone own a Boss Hoss or ever driven one?

Both of my uncles own Boss Hoss bikes and one of them has 2 of them. Ive been trying to talk him out of the second one for some time now. They are a sweet ride but even at 65 MPH if you goose it you better hold on. I tried that once and heard the tire break loose... VERY SCARY! I get to drive them all the time but really want to own one... until then Ill keep enjoying my Harley and Cummins trucks.

Best feature of the BMW(s): ABS.

Worst: Ride height

History:Yamaha Vulcan 750, HD Sportster 1200, Honda XL-100 (training bike for Mrs), BMW R-90/6, Yamaha XS-650, Kawasaki KZ-900, Yamaha XS-400, Hodaka 125(?), Kawasaki 125 Enduro. Riding for 28 years & one (non fatal :-laf )crash.

re: ABS ... An SUV pulled out in front of an officer on a Harley here in Reno. The city went to BMWs because he would have lived if he was riding a Beemer.

In another case, a buddy was riding, leading, a group of riders. Crested a rise & whammo ... he was ON TOP OF a road construction stop sign. One of those poor warning things. Anyway, he got it to a stop in time, standing on the brakes. He said he ows it to the ABS.

I'm riding a GoldWing. I was going to upgrade to a newer one ... not now!

I've got an '05 Honda VTX1800 R.

Had an '02 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Classic.

Both bikes seem to be very reliable. But I do enjoy the VTX quite a bit more. It's a heavier and much more powerful bike than the V-Star. The VTX just feels so comfotable and smooth at 90 mph . But I bet it's nothing like a Boss Hoss, I'd love an afternoon with a Boss Hoss, or even a Triumph Rocket III.

Austin Police Department just finished a test of HD vs BMW. The BMW's had substantially fewer accidents due to the ABS. Later HD added some sort of ABS but it is about 3 generations behind the BMW ABSIII (or IV?) But BMW got the contract purchases, kind of a shame given the lousy service we have locally.

How about the new Gold Wings with AIR BAGS!

:-laf ... I saw that the other day @ the Honda dealer. Might as well add a few more lbs. What are they, 850 lbs dry ... w/o the air bag? :-laf

One time @ the Honda dealer, my wife went with me. I asked her to sit on the Valkarie, turn the handle bars straight & JUST tip it up straight. She battled with it!!!!

The Wing is NOT a big bike btw ... ck out the Rune. 888 lbs :--)

A real Tiger, Triumph that is!!!

Last Thanksgiving I sold my 2002 Honda VTX 1800C because of it's weight, (over 800 lbs). I had a couple of incidences of it almost going down and taking my knees out so I let it go.

I recently acquired a 2006 Triumph Tiger, bags and all. I know you'll either like or hate the looks but it's a good all round bike. Does distances good, handles the curves, can tranverse gravel or dirt roads if you respect it's limits and hauls a fair amount of gear in the bags and top trunk which mount and dismount with a turn of a key.

I mounted a GPS unit to the bars and I head to the north Georgia mountians and go exploring, most fun I've had in a long time. The GPS keeps me from getting lost and the 6. 3 gallon tank takes the worry away when I get to far off the beaten path. The 955cc injected 6 speed motor has a nearly flat torque curve so you rarely have to shift even on the curves. Works for me.

With the exception of the stripe paint job I like it alot. Fuel injected huh, that is cool. From a comfort stand point how is it to ride distances?

I started out on a mini-bike, to a Honda 70, Kaw F7A 175, Kaw KZ 400, Honda Shadow 500, Honda Shadow 700, and now own a Kaw 750 Vulcan. Use it mainly for back -n-forth to work, as my back cant take long rides anymore.

Only had two so far... . HAVE a 95 Honda CBR 600 and HAD a Harley Sportster 1200 custom... . the Sportster was by far more fun. Specially the last few weeks I had it after the blower was installed:eek: 120 series rear tire with a 160HP V-twin can be fun... ... and scary. :-laf

I have had several bikes of as many brands but my favorite of all times that 2 of my friends have that I have ridden is the Yamaha V-Max Oo. I think it is the most awesome looking and the power and handling are just as fun. I heard they are coming with an 1800cc v-max in 08. Oo. . I am thinking my next bike will be a late model 1800 goldwing, but if the 1800 v-max hits my fancy that may be the next. :p
