What is HENCE???

Blood Sacrifice

Sears Die Hard (no not the battery!)... very comfortable, long lasting, the sole wears flat, and is light colored which is very important on hot days.

gonna change to whites

Have been wearing Redwings for 25 years, Last two pairs not as good as previous . I must have a all leather shoe because synthetic stuff of any sort eventually smells bad when you take them off. That is the case with the Wings -- use of synthetic liner started 3 years ago. Wings still wear pretty well , and i am really hard on shoes. Gonna try the Whites. Who cares about spendy when they wear like Iron? I hope these things are the Cummins of footwear.

Daveshoe,

Whites and Nicks are the Cummins of footwear. As a matter of fact I am wearing a pair of Whites casual wear ankle high shoe right now.

sure they were $189, but they raised the arch for me so I don't need to have my orthotics in these shoes and I can have these rebuilt many times. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

I'd say Redwings only because Ive been wearing them for around 6 years, been through 3 pairs in that time, they remaine waterproof but the clay and salt water I walk through everyday on my job really does a number on the leather. No matter what kind you get,the leather is all the same. My boots are usually still wet the next day,so its hard to oil them like they recomend, but they are an excelent boot.

I have worn the same redwings since 1995. I bought a pair of new redwings this year. I could not stand them. So I keep wearing the old ones. Doc Martins seams to be people favorite now. I might try out sketchers next time.

I tried Redwings a couple years ago. Keep in mind I only wear them around 10 weekends per year, walking in the woods laying out motorcycle trails.

The first pair lasted around 5 weekends, the way they are designed, the top piece of leather overlaps the bottom on the sides, I walked on a branch and it riped out the stiching and got stuck in the side of the boot. Also the sole cracked right where my foot bends.

After much fighting with Redwing I got them replaced (factory store replaced them with no problem, but the private owned store guy was a jerk)

The 2nd pair is now a year old, they are lasting better as far as the leather is conserned, but the sole on both boots cracked again where my foot bends. Not a lot of use out of a pair of $200. 00 boots.

My next pair will be a set of Chippewa loggers. I just bought a set of there wellingtons, nicest slip on boots I ever owned.

Justin steel toes. MADE IN USA!!! (2 pair)

Also have: Justin lacers (2 pair)

Justin Ropers

and a pair of regular pull-on Justin cowboy boots

ALL "made in USA"

I've been wearing the 6" Cat/ Wolverine deals. They aren't too bad, but I find that the soles are very hard-no shock absorption. In casual (to/from work) I found some neat and cheap Sketchers low work shoes. I laughed at first, but I tried them while at the orthopedic store for my Son.

I'm surprised I haven't heard one person mention Knapp Shoes. They were always comfy, but short lived. They once made a boot called the ATV, and at one time there were 2 versions of all styles- one import and one USA made. The salesman actually gave you the choice and the USA's were more expensive. I loved that boot, there was no substitute. Those Whites sound nice!

Does anyone have a EEE foot and wear wellingtons or other slip on's? I would like to try them someday.

I just got my rebuilt Whites back yesterday. Everything on them is new except for the leather upper. So I basically got a new pair of boots for $179 (including shipping). That sure beats paying over $360 for a new pair. KL :) :) :)
