The manual doesn't have a set mileage to perform these services. is there special cooland or additive for cummins? use fleetguard coolant? and how much does it hold? thanks

The coolant is the new HOAT stuff... not the normal stuff.

The belt... I get around 100k out of mine. I have two hanging on the wall with 100k on each one, and there's not really anything wrong with either one (not even worn out in the grooves. The only thing I found is the idler pulley and tensioner pulley tend to need grease with any significant miles.

Last year when I lost the water pump on the road, I used Zerex if I remember correctly... never flushed it, and it seems to work fine.

Use anything with HOAT. I don't think you should mix it with anything else except distilled water. I change belts every 50k just cause I can. :D Prevention sometimes goes a long way and I'd rather do things on my own terms rather than at the side of the road at midnight-----but thats just me----

Just did Serp belt and coolant at 160K... ... ... ... ... . I should be ashamed:eek:

My tech told me the coolant is for diesels and is good for 100K or 5 years. Told him I see him in 2 years.

Kept the old S-belt in the truck for a spare or to help someone on the road. All my pulleys and WP were tight.

You need to use a HOAT coolant, Zerex G05 is the most readily available and the factory fill. My manual stated that the coolant needed to be changed at 60 months (regardless of mileage) or 100K miles. The Zerex says 60 months or 150K miles on the bottle, whichever comes first.

I plan to do my belt at 100K miles.

and for the excessive

What is this HOAT? I can't find that on any label I have looked at. I have a 2002 and need to change coolant. Any suggestions?

The Zerex G05 is yellowish, but is the same coolant as OEM. To get OEM pink you have to buy OEM, which is more $$ than G05 from the auto parts store. Color isn't important. It just needs to be HOAT.

Did 2002 use HOAT? I thought it was a 3rd gen thing, but not 100% certain.
