What mods for towing.

Howdy all.



Fixing to purchase a 3rd gen around the first of the year when I get back from Iraq and was wondering which mods would best suit my purpose? I am not new to the cummins so I am not in the blind. Had a 96 12v, 325 hp, a 99 that i just sold before we got activated (National Guard Unit) had it dynoed once before I put the HX-40 on it, 395 hp - 785 tq.



I am an Ag Teacher in the real world so kind of on a budget. Mainly tow a 24 ft Sooner aluminum stock trailer with animals and tack. Want something that won't harm my fuel mileage too much but can sacrifice a little. Looking for a adjustable on the fly programmer so I can play when I want to.



The truck I am going to buy is a 2003-2004. 5 HO 6spd crew dually. Any thougths would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your service. My son left last week with the Texas Air National Guard out of Ellington AFB. I have eaten at the OST probably 100 times while riding motorcycles in the Hill Country. Come back safe. I have a 2005 6 speed and we are looking for a 99-2002 for him.

I thank you for your service also. You would be looking at several different options, the TST which I have and really like, the Edge Juice w/attitude, Banks Six Gun w/Speedloader, and I believe the BD Power Pup. There may be more out there but these are all I can recall at this time.



Many people on here do not like the Banks electronic stuff. My only advice to you is do your research and buy whatever suits your needs and/or wants. Semper Fi.

Kind of hesitant about the tst. My father had one and cratered his engine after about 100,000 miles of towing. He still had the stock turbo which I am sure didn't help things at all. I am going to upgrade that to either a bigger single or twins so I would probably be safe with the tst. Still not sure though.



I had a banks kit on my 99 just had a different programer on it. I loved all of their mechanical stuff. The electronics did leave something to be desired.
