What mods we can hide from dealerships?

Codes and no power with smarty. Anyone else had this problem?

As I understand it and the way Quad explained it. The parameters of the data is NOT changed at the BOX. Its AFTER the box. The trucks computer still sends SAME DATA. Its ALTERED AFTER it leaves the factory computer. Performance/Fueling boxes do not plug into the factory computer they plug in downstream. . Down loaders DO alter the factory programs.

ok the pug in box uses the info allready there in the ecm right? then alters it to produce huge amounts of power, well guess what the the boost fooling and rail psi fooling is still detectable along with timing advance and duration, if the tech follows rpm and watches how the boost or what ever was fooled in a sertain time frame it's pretty easy to see that at 1000rpm you had 20psi. to get fuel started then at 2500 rpm you have 5psi so the ecm sends more fuel to get boost up, it not as hidden as you might think, the newer trucks especially they have a play back memory, and your toys will show up. :cool:
 
I did not understand it to be that way. X signal leaves ECM the same time after time. Down the line of flow it(signal) gets changed. The ECM does NOT know it got changed is how I understood it to make it more simple. The power company sells you 100 watts of power. You turn it into what ever in the way of D. C. voltage,milivolts,invertors and so on. They don't KNOW what you did with after it left them. They still just see it being 100 watts. Now I'm NOT worth a darn at elect. But reading how he explained it thats how it came through to me. A BOX has done NOTHING to the ECM. Its parameters have remained the same. I don't run one on this truck. Could really care. I do have a Superchips(downloader) that I use on my 1998 1500 gas v8.
 
Your Dakota has about as much warranty as my half-ton does :D



But I have pulled my half ton through a few service bays just for the heck of it.



Needless to say the reaction was :--) . All of this was before I back-halfed it and 4-linked it. It used to look like a lowered half-ton. Now its just a flat five away with the cage and all.

Is there any mods that DC will accept? Air filter, exhaust etc. ?

This is my first time visiting your message boards and I have to say I am impressed with the content and your ability to keep it clean.

I am a recovering Ford addict. My 6. 0 work trucks finally won. I'm going back to Dodge. I bought my last Dodge in 2002 and bought three new Fords since then. The 7. 3 was a decent truck but those 6. 0's have left a permanent mark. Go easy on me guys, I'm still licking my wounds.

my dealer said that intake and exhaust mods wont void my warrenty inless they find that the aftermarket part caused the issue. i cant remove the cat though, not that i need to anyhow. anything that adds fuel they said they would void but ive seen guys go in with edge boxes and get taken care of. from what ive heard with my dealer is if your honest with them, theyll take care of ya. not to much to ask.
