I am not getting very good MPG from my truck just wanted to know some others experience. I set the edge to the new number that they said would correct the speedo. But still getting around 11-13 around town and 14-16 highway. What do you think?

I just found out that I am not correcting the speedo with the edge box and I am getting better MPG than I had thought before. Thanks for the info though

well i dont do really well with my 35in toyo m/t like 11 to 13 no matter what. I live at sea level and no hills, change filters when needed. Its hard for me to see anybody getting 18mpg even on highway unless yall drive 55mph. Is this hand caculated cause the overhead console is useless except for the temp. & compass.

I took my truck to the dealer when I put my 35's on and had them calabrate the speedo so I could get an accurate mpg reading. Not to brag, but I get 17+ around town and on my last 540 mile trip I got 22. 1 mpg. I run 17 in. wheels.

Yeah, I'm disappointed with the mileage of my 5. 9. My '03 got 18-19 on the highway with the Toyo 35's. This truck gets 15 stock!

If I knew it was going to be this bad, I would have bought a 6. 7 Laramie long bed (I got the last 5. 9 on the lot).

I've got 325's on 18's and I'm getting 14-16 hand calculated, but I don't correct the mileage for the larger tires. I guess I'm getting a little better than that then. I've only got 17000 mi.

I wrote the following on another thread. . A good percentage applies here... unless you can change total weight, wind resistance & acceleration do not expect more than a 1-3% increase... It's not in the math... .

This is related to a air dam on the top of the cab to deflect air over a trailer but the basics apply here...

my quote
After spending some time with a engineer and having several hundred hours with a chassis dyno I have to put my 2 cents in...

A good mechanical engineer can plot a graph for you based on weight, acceleration, wind resistance and through this formula predict with in 5% of a vehicles mpg... .

I would like to add that my wife gets better MPG than I because she drives slower and accelerates slower... and VW is looking at removing out side rear view mirrors and replacing them with a monitor because of the change in wind resistance.....

I do not believe, after what I've learned that you could achieve more than a 1-3% increase in fuel economy over the current bubble used on modern 5er's...

I own (2) 5er's as well as several work trailers... . work trailers up to 22K lbs... let's cover the 5er's only... one is a mid 90's and weighs 10,500 lbs and has a very simple slanted front, the second is an 06, weighs close to 13,000 lbs and has a nice bubble... . (better design). The 06 tow's better and we get the same fuel economy with the newer trailer. The newer trailer is 14" taller and several feet longer than the old trailer.....

So if you have an older trailer you might maybe see 3-5%... .

Thanks for listening.....

Im sorry if you have a hard time with that, but I get 15 typically in town, and as I stated, 17-18 on the highway. This is with a CORRECTED speedo, and hand calculated at every fillup. The overhead will typically read 1-2mpg higher on my truck.

On my 03, I had 37's, and got over 19mpg on several road trips running 72-73mph.
