i have 57k miles on my truck and the only things done besides oil changes at evey 3k was transmission tune up at 37k and the fuel filter at about 48k. Should thier be more????a guy with a 96 dodge told me at every 50k the valves need to be adjusted. Is this the same for 24 valve engines also.

here it is right out of the book. 60,000 do the basic oil and filter change. the book states for autos drain replace filter and fluid adjust bands. check water pump for weep hole. inspect wheel bearings repack if required. inspect damper, hubs. change front and rear axle fluid ( 4x4 ) inspect brake linings and than flush and replace engine coolant. all this from schedule B

Just a note I change my fuel filter every 12,000 miles or 12 months. change oil and filter every 3 months a little over kill.

In the fine print of the service manual schedules, it recommends a fuel filter and tire rotation every other oil change (on schedule B).

Lorlando: Great job on the oil, I'd do the fuel filter more often and tires (if you don't already) especially since you've got six of em.

50K check-up

Other than the usual oil and filters I've made a few changes based on recommendations from this forum.

At 20,000 I dumped the transmission and differential oil. I put the Pennzoil Sychromesh fluid in the transmission. This is one of the approved fluids and it did seem to help with sticky shifting.

The rear-end got an 80w 140 synthetic blend as suggested the manual. I tow heavy and felt this was a "must do".

At 30,000 I switched to Mobil Delvac 1 syn motor oil. I really like the way the truck turns over on cold mornings and am shooting for extended oil drains.

Just now checked the valve lash even though it's not needed until 150,000. They were right on +- a few thousands. Didn't need to adjust anything there.

We're getting ready for another winter in Mexico and think the truck is good to go until spring.
