What Now

I think my truck is on the verge of being a lemon. In warranty repairs alone I calculated $7200 worth of parts that were replaced. I'm only at 41000 miles!



Anyway to the point, my truck is making a loud tapping noise upon morning startup or pulling up a hill. I'm not new to a cummins, i know the traditional noises they make, and this is not one of them. Its kind of like a valve tapping. I felt the injector lines with the engine running and the number 1 line has a unusual vibration and pulsing to it, while all the others felt normal. I'm thinking an injector is giving up on me. But other than noise I don't notice anything unusual. It idles normal, fuel milage is good, it dosnt stumble. Does anyone have any other ideas? You know i have to tell those service techs what to do or they say nothins wrong.

all trucks have #1 line with the pulsing in it. there is no dampner on it and there is no support from a clamp on it. it will pulse more than others do

BG, Welcome to the site.

If your Dealer is willing to work with you, I'd have them do an injector kill test. With the CR system they can shutdown individual injectors to test them.

I don't have a lot of experience with CR systems but it can't hurt to ask.

What repairs have I had done, where do I begin. To name some from the top of my head.

1. ball joints x 4

2. steering box

3. hoses to steering box

4. transfer case yoke assembly

5. u-joints x 7

6. drivers side window stopped working

7. hub assembly x 2

8. while at service they put a hole in my door panel and chipped the simmulator

9. carrier bearing

10. trans mount

11. CP3 high pressure injection pump. unservicable sensor inside.

12. engine speed sensor

13. camshaft sensor

14. CD player stopped working



Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Anybody else had this many problems?
