Fuel System Poll

Ats or DTT poll

I run Amsoil 5W30 3000 series full synthetic. With the new hands pumps from Amsoil and fit on the large mouth Amsoil containers, refilling the trans is now easier than ever. Before this pump came out, filling the 5600 trans was a pain in the neck. I think the pumps retail between 10 and 15 bucks and are totally reusable. Just note that these pumps won't screw on to standard size quart bottles with the small caps, just the larger Amsoil bottle caps. OMG I'm sounding like a salesman... .

I've only run OEM lube and Redline MTL, so I can't comment on the others, but I do notice better shifting the last 30,000 miles with MTL.

As my transmission shifts like butter, I have had no reason to use anything other than the warranty approved Pennzoil Synchromesh fluid.

ps. lifetime fill concept makes me laugh! Mine's getting changed every 20,000 mi.

i am currently using the OEM stuff [i got it for nearly the same price as penzoil/quakerstate stuff] and i have enough to do one more change, which will take me to the end of 3 years. then i'll go redline mtl

I'm curiious. How many are staying with OEM and how many are using other products in their NV5600 transmission.

I've tried the Pennzoil Synchromesh and had no complaints. Now using the GM stuff (can't remember the part#) and it works fine. I found no "big" difference between OEM, Pennzoil or GM fluids.

Swapped out the OEM stuff down around 1000 miles on the truck - tried a popular synthetic, but shifting quality went to hell, so immediately switched back to the OEM stuff at less than $10 a quart - been running that for a bit over 30,000 miles with NO problems, LOTS of towing, and have a refill of Redline MTL ready to install before many more miles roll by... If THAT stuff doesn't work as advertised, I'll again return to the OEM stuff and never "stray" again! ;) :D

I use the Redline MTL in the 4500, shifts better than the OEM, which wasn't too bad, just too much money. When I do the 5600 swap I'm going to put MTL in it from the get-go. :D

Well, I guess this as good a place as any to make my first reply. At 15k I put Red Line 75-90 in the diffs, MTL in the 6-speed and C+ in the transfer case. All are running nice and smooth

I use the Amsoil 5W-30 in my 03' NV-5600. 30,000 + and it shifts very nice, and especialy now when it is COLD, just like it was still middle of summer.
