I have done a search and am coming up empty handed. I can find all sorts of posts on oils, and air filters... But I have foung nothing on oil filters. I can not imagine this has not been discussed here somewhere.

My question is... What filter is the hot item these days? I have been using the Mopar unit. Is there something better?

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Baldwin Filters

For a number of reasons, Customer Service being one, I have used Baldwin filters on everything for which they make a filter.

Been doing this for many years. Ye gads I am old!!

The dealer filter is made by fleetguard but the stratopore by fleetguard is top notch, the best. A LF 3894 by fleetguard will work to.

I use a Napa Gold #7620xe Its like the stratapore version of the napa gold filters. I definetely trust fleetguard and baldwin they are excellent filters. Napa is typically Wix, unless Wix doesn't make it. Then they use Fleetguard or Donaldson re-branded as a Napa filter. I use the Napa filter for ease of purchase. They deliver them right to me in a matter of minutes.

I am on the NO FRAM train for sure.

can you use a longer filter as long as the gasket is the same size.

a tech that works at freightliner lives nextdoor he was telling me he can get me filters for my truck but they are much longer. it would give me more oil.

he wanted me to give him my old filter at my next oilchange.

will this work out ok ???

I to use only the stratospore by Fleetgaurd. If you call Geno's they will sell you a filter set with the proper oil, fuel , and air filter for your truck. This keeps you from having to run around looking for parts when you need them. Randy

I have a fram on mine and its still running.

I would advise to change this filter ASAP, they do not have the right stuff inside to hold them together. and over time the filter media disintegrates and plugs the piston cooling nozzles, causing engine failure, and a good hefty repair bill. Just do your self a favor, and get away from these CHEAP Fram filters they are not worth the possible problems. The metal that is in the filter case is a thinner material and might EXPLODE, losing your oil to the ground.

But Its your choice, to use what you want.
