I also buy Fleetguard filters from Geno's. I've never used anything but Fleetguard filters in three Dodges.

The "filter kit" from Geno's is a handy way to buy and stock them so you'll always have them when ready to service your truck.

I have been using K&N filter in my truck for as long as I have owned it. The 1" adapter on the bottom makes it real easy to remove and to install. All you need is a whole bunch of real long extensions to reach up to the filter from under the truck.

I have been running fleetguard up until last oil change. I was at farm and fleet at the time and they had no other. Oh well I will put a fleetguard on ASAP. I did not know this was a issue with fram until now.

I have been told there are only two makers of filters Wix and Donaldson. They make filters for everyone else to there specs. with there name on it.

Hello
Has any one, besides me, heard Fleetguard is moving there production facility to Mexico.
Thanks
JL

The three Dodge Rams I've owned have all been built in Mexico. If the oil filters are Hecho in Mexico they will be a good match for the truck.

Hi Barlow

Ya. I hope your not saying Baldwin filters are cheep. I retired with 35 years as a Heavy Equip. Manger. and have used and tested all oil filters - Baldwins have the same medium- just called Microlite. No filter we tested protects BETTER than Baldwin - sure, just as good.

I'm watching the press on when Fleetguard will be produced in Mexico - closing plants in the US - sometime in 2011.

Thanks

JL

I didn't say (write) a word about Baldwin filters. The only factor I am certain of is Fleetguard and MOPAR (Fleetguard, I understand) are the recommended products for the Cummins engine.

Did you test "all oil filters" in laboratory conditions in Cummins engines?

Check out this TSB. TSB 09-004-01

That is the information I learned from other TDR members soon after I bought my first Dodge-Cummins in 2001. It has been my guide.

Like others have stated, I simply do not understand why anyone would buy an expensive truck with an engine capable of reliable service for one million miles and then use a high risk oil filter not approved for use on the Cummins engine.

Every truck stop in America has several diesel fuel, diesel fuel supplements, engine lube oil, and engine oil filter "experts" around at any time who are happy to share their expertise with someone gullible enough to believe them.

I've run three Dodge Ram duallies with Cummins engines a total of over 630,000 miles using nothing but truck stop fuel (Flying J), ordinary brand name lube oil (previously Rotella, now Valvoline) and Fleetguard filters (from Geno's).

I have never used a drop of injector cleaner or similar products and have never had an injector or internal engine problem.

Personally, I use the Hastings LF608 due to quality, cost, and availability.

I think that the Amsoil Ea080, Donaldson Endurance ELF7349, and Fleetgaurd Stratapore LF16035 are probably the best money can buy... as far as full flow direct replacement filters are concerned.

Hi All---

Have any of you put a fuel tank drain plug on your pick-up truck fuel tank???

If so --how did you do it and what did you use??? THANKS
