As I said I add 11 qts and 24 ounces. Let truck sit on level ground last night. Took the pic this am. Now I have 8 oz for oil makeup.

Rotella T6 5W-40 with Fleet gaurd strata pore filter.

Only the second OCI since I have owned the truck, first was dino at the dealer... UOA on that fill came back not so good, showing wear metals... pulling sample in a couple weeks again to test again... fingers crossed.

Who did your sample? Wear metals are very common for a new engine,

Amsoil 5-40 with the EA filter. Changed twice so far with 7900 miles - bought it new in August. Old habit always change oil after 1k.

Just changed at 3K miles with Amsoil 5w-40 and Fleetguard 9028.

May switch to the OE15w-40 if I am going to have to do 6 month changes. It's $2.65 a quart less.

Dealers sell Chrysler service contracts for (3 or 4) oil changes cheaper than if you buy 3/4 individualy.

They use Pennzoil same as others have stated above.

You can get them for synthetic oil as well.

i'm not sure if the contracts are always available, but when I go back for the 2nd & 3rd oil change it's nice when they say "no charge today covered under contract".

OE is better if you are not extending the oil change. You don't need the extra additives in the premium if changing at 3000 miles.

Since none of my close-to-me Wally Worlds had Rotella T6 5W40 in stock, I ended up buying Delo 400 5W40 Full Synthetic. It seems to be doing its job just fine.

Thats unfortunate T5, and T6 Rotella has a five dollar PER gallon mail in rebate at participating dealers. Close by for me would be either AutoZone or O'Reilly's . Walmart does not appear to be a participating dealer. I guess you could buy 3 gallons for next time. Rebate ends 12/31/16 .

I only changed the oil at 3k because it was the first change. I will change according to the indicator in the future, but if its going to be every six months I may go with the less expensive OE.

I run the plain old Rotella T4 15-40, and Mopar oil filter. I change every six months. If I was in severe weather, and putting on a lot of miles I might consider the more expensive synthetics. But with 5K on the oil in six months pretty much a waste as it is. Even more of a waste dumping out expensive synthetic oil, with no real proven benefit .

I change every 5,000 miles anyway. Oil is cheap and goes on sale at NAPA every so often. Valvoline dino oil was or may still be 11.99 a gallon.

With the OE, you get more oil and less additive. I don't pay for the extra additives either. The additives don't lubricate. I like my oil to be more oil heavy than additive heavy. More lubricant per ml is the better option.

just as 15/40 will always be better then 5/40 for the long haul as there is less viscosity modifiers to break down. the only advantage the 5-40 has is the cold pour point.
i just picked up 8 gallons of VPB 15-40 for 10$ a jug. and last week i got the VPB 5-40 (for dirtbikes and UTV) for 15$ a jug.
i need to stop buying oil.. i think right now i have enough on hand to last me 4-5 years.

and the old idea that you need to drain at 3-5K is out dated. todays oils are great. and will easily stand up to 7500 mile change interval.
