Hi all! New to this site and soaking in all the info. I have a 99 bone stock 4wd. Thinking about getting a Edge Juice w/ attitude. What other mods should I do if any to be safe. Not into huge power just enough to tow and want to get best possible MPG! Considering new lift pump (Glacier?), air filter, and bigger exhaust. Should I do injectors? Which ones (Mach) Anybody have any thoughts? Much appreciated!!

Oh, one more thing... does the edge attitude monitoring system work well? I mean better or as good as analouge guages?

I have an Edge w/ Attitude and like it, one of the greatest things with the edge system is the turbo cool down timer, one of the selling points for me, as far as doing stuff, when i first came here, the key to upgrading is to be able to monitor your ride first (gauges) unless of course u did go with the attitude which would solve that, exhaust and air intake (help your truck breathe) before ever adding any power mods, as far as injectors, it all depends in my opinion on how much u pull, ive had 100 hp injectors in mine with an edge and smarty and typically turn the edge all the way off and the smarty off when i tow 10k+ because of the transmission, you have to be careful all i can say, I pull 3-4 days a week soo its hard to say injectors and box without a better transmission, just my 2 cents

okay, any recommendations on exhaust and intakes products. Also i'm thinking of going with a glacier lift pump before I head to Baja so not to encounter any fuel problems in the middle of nowhere. Ar there less expensive lift pumps that are of equalsih quality and ease of installation?

I went with the banks exhaust system, many argue its overpriced but i like it, went with the power elbow as well, serves it purpose nice, any exhaust really can do the trick, as far as intakes, afe by far many will say is the best and ill agree although not running one i would swap my aem bruteforce out for one anyday, and as far as fuel delivery im going next week to get an airdog, another debate lol

For the power you'd be making, a BHAF or Amsoil Nano filter with heatshield would supply plenty of air. The Nano's are nice cause their a dry filter, and you can clean it with shop air. I'd also look at upgrading your transmission and tq if you have an automatic, or clutch if you have a manual. The least you'd probably have to do to an automatic is a tq and valve body if you don't plan on getting to crazy with it.

For air filters I would recommend the AFE pro7 drop in replacement for the stock box, then remove the plastic connector to the fender vent. Any good 4" exhaust will do. Aluminized steel is much less costly than stainless. I have used both straight pipe aluminized & the stainless Banks. The Banks is a lot nicer to listen too as there is no annoying drone . A Smarty will give you throttle response that not much else can touch. The Formula 1 mach series injectors are amongst the best out there. I'd also suggest you go with stand alone gauges.

Darkhorse,

Do you have any problems with your clutch and the 3. 8's?

Im thinking of getting some 4's, wonder if it would hold the power?

I agree with the above except that I would NOT remove the connection between the stock air box and fender. It really won't improve airflow, but it will allow the box to pull hot air from under the hood rather than the cooler outside air.

I'm running a juice w/attitude with a stock airbox, proguard 7 filter, and the PSM coolhose that lets the system pull more cool air from the cowl area... sort of like the Scotty II that used to be available. I like the juice and attitude for its value. However, it's a big torque increase. It was enough to slip my factory 6spd clutch. If I could afford it, I would run some DDP 75 hp injectors and then turn the Juice down as necessary for towing and smoke control during daily driving.

Also, I'm running a fuel system kit is very similar to the Glacier system. The makeup of the big line kit is a little different, but the pump and regulator are the same. I've only got about 2 years and 25K miles on it, but it's been flawless so far.

the edge or even the new Quadzilla adrenaline w/ pulse monitor will work great if your looking for an all in one gauge set up.

as for the fuel system i would suggest something like the PureFlow Airdog kit, that will give you the best of both worlds, a much better fuel pump, a 3micron fuel filter and water seperator, a 1/2 fuel line all the way to the vp44, and you can expect to pick up another 1-2 mpg w/ that kit as well.

as for air mods, i'd say the CFM intake manifold and a stage 1 AFE intake would be more than enough for you there.

i'd say the Edge (diesel dynamics) 75hp injectors would also be a good choice, then later on you can do a bigger turbo w/o changing the sticks.

finally i would highly suggest doing something w/ that transmission, whether it's a valve body or just a BD trans lock kit to raise your line pressure. then you can go w/ a torque converter and flexplate.
