I just ordered my 375hp injectors, and was wondering what plate you guys would recommend with the mods I have now. Yes gauges are on their way too. During the summer I pull a 7500lb CAT plus trailer. Right now the stock plate is slid forward, and the cummins guy messed with a few other things in the pump. Right now it pulls to 2500 RPM. I see there is a #8, #11, and a #6 plate on e-bay right now.

Thanks Cal

I did a 97 automatic(180 pump) the other day. . and I used a #10 plate. With the 10 plate you dont have to worry about the governor lever adjustment. . because there is no nose for the lever to get stuck under.

To make things a little more happy. . I also did the 3k governor springs. The owner and his wife was very well please with the results.

With the 10 plate things can get a little warm. But by moving the plate back 20-30 thousands. . things will cool down.

Cal,

You have a pyro, right? I'd talk with several of the well known performace shops. You'll probably need to do some air/turbo upgrades to keep EGT's in check while towing. I'd personally look at something like a #6 (as you have an automatic). You can always slide it back if it's a little hot.

I have the 370's in my truck and ran a #6 plate for a year. I liked the power it had. Then I installed the 4K GSK and lost all my low end so I swithed to a #4 plate. Id go with a #10 or #4 if you plan on a GSK in the future, if not the #6 is a nice plate.

Piers recommends a 10 plate with a stock turbo. I can EASILY overboost my HX35 with the 14cm housing, and I have the 6 plate. I can get the EGT's up pretty good(1600 if I stand on it off the line to 75). I haven't towed anything heavy since I installed the 370's. I'm chomping at the opportunity though. I think I would recommend a 10 plate unless you want to go with a bigger turbo (B1) then I'd go with a 4.

With the 180 pump,#10 plate and 3k GSK you would be seeing some where in the 250hp range! Those 10 plates are great for tuning. .

Rick

I plan on doing the 3GSK after Christmas. Then this spring probably buy a Piers HX-40 turbo. I live up here in Michigan, and have to be able to run to the U. P. eh? So for now the #10 witht the 370's and stock turbo should be ok? Anything else I should do or check when I put the 370's in? Timming at ? ect ect

Thanks Cal

This is not like tunning my turbo mustangs!

Be careful of the e-bay cam plates, some of them are home made JUNK!!!!!!!

And the folks that sell them have no clue how to trouble shoot nor do they care, same as those that sell to the public and just have it drop shipped and don't know squat about them... ... these folks are killing the people that do care and field the calls from people in trouble... . stay with the good guys.

Jim

If your going to buy a plate buy from TST or Piers. That way you know you are getting a quality plate and if there is problems you have someone to call on a toll free number if you have problems.

Good luck with what ever you do. :)

The 10 plate with 370's is a runnable situation. The only thing that you may have to adjust is your idle. My friend Tim (diesel tim) has that setup, and dyno'ed 393 and 950 torque with a stock turbo. An HX40 should help you out a bit. If your gonna spend that kind of cash on a turbo I'd also consider the B1. It's a little more reliable from what I've read.

A 40 will gain you 25-30 hp over a 35, if you want to drop the extra money for a B-1 Piers is a dealer for the whole B series line... . B-1, B-2, Big Brother and all there varieties.

Hmmm... what is this B-1? I did not see it on their site. My end goal is to have the truck run 14's. I recieved the 370's today. So I am going to put them in tomorrow. Going to see what the difference is with the stock plate. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Cal

Ok, I got the injectors put in today. Man does it have a mean pull!

Along with a pretty good cloud of black smoke. The stock plate is full forward. Should I move it back? And what should I have the timming at? In overdrive locked up at 55mph, stomp the go pedal, and a huge cloud of black come bellowing out. Boost lag like a *****. Then all of a sudden the boost hits and now you are going 75 just like that! I mean if you ease into the pedal the boost and fuel come on together, but if you just tromp it (black cloud) What do you guys think?
