I'm going to get my truck dynoed after a clutch install next month and have some questions. Currenlty, any time I'm pulling my trailer or horsing around, I try and keep the EGTs at 1200 or below. A few times, it's crept up (pretty fast) to 1400 and more for only a split second though, as I looked over at the gauge and then backed out of it. My question is, While doing the dyno run, do I keep that same rulle in effect? What are the procedures for throttle and EGTs? Thanks.

don't know about diesel, but when i used to build all motor and turbo honda engines, it was balls out in a third gear pull. that was the whole point, get a feel for power and curve from low rpm to redline.

What concerns me though is, if power feels good with EGTs climbing, do I back down when I get to the 1250 degree mark or keep it hammered to ???? degree EGT?

No rules apply besides what RPM you DON'T want to go over. Boost, EGT, and water temp just don't apply for trucks that aren't turned up wild.

Make sure water temp is up to ATLEAST safe. It seems that the hotter they are, the more HP they put down. DO NOT run on the dyno with a cold motor.

EGT,, doesn't matter. Hit 2,000* if you like. Cummins says you can be at 1,400 for 30 seconds.

Don't go over ~40PSI on a stock turbo. I made 430RWHP at only 25PSI.

It's best to run the truck up hard to redline, letting it defuel before backing out of the throttle. Try not to just pull out of the throttle when the truck is making good power,, although this won't kill your truck, it does "shock" alot of hard parts, and can make the truck dance a little on the dyno.
