You see a new heavy duty 03 coming at ya . You want to smile and wave at a CUMMINS brother. You cannot tell what is under the hood because the badging cannot be seen at road speeds.

All the second genners had the ''red stripe of letters '' under the Ram emblem. Also the V-8 or V-10 identified the gassers.

I sure miss being able to instantly see all my ''brothers'' comin down the road. --- Do I need to get a life?

Just wave once when you see a fellow Dodge owner coming down the road..... then, when you see that it's a diesel wave a second time. That sounds pretty stupid, I know.

Just wave to support your fellow Dodge owners even if they are just driving gassers. ;)

daveshoe: I have had the same thoughts (yea, we need to get a life). The new Cummins identification is sorta neat, but I think Dodge made a mistake by getting rid of the "red stripe of letters" which was so easily identifiable, it had become almost an icon in my view. If I had a buck for every time I've looked for the red stripe on a Dodge truck, I could get another Cummins.

That is what the TDR grille badges are for. :D So you can see it coming.

I am getting a trained eye for the new emblems. Just gets getting used to looking for. I agree with Casey about the TDR emblems :D .

I got my TDR tag Saturday, I like it and it should be easy to see coming at you! My son would not let us go fishing until it was installed. :D Of course, Kansas only requires a rear license plate, leaving the front bracket open for all kinds of abuse. Glen

well you will know my truck is diesel when you see it coming 4wd cab lights on, leveled out, with 35's. oh yea i bought a badge from cummins that i put on the tailgate that say diesel power. i also put a small sticker on the windsheild the famous blue C. i am going to move my cummins from the front quater panels to the area where you would see the f-150 sign on a furd. this ought to help!

I agree with Dean it takes a trained eye to see the C on the 03. I always thought(but what do I know:confused: )that the red emblem was unique to the Cummings. I have caught myself many times looking at the 03 and saying thats not a diesel. Then that light bulb comes on in my head and I say there not putting the red emblem on anymore.

Even from a great distance, the eagle eye of the trained observer can tell the difference between the "C" and the "HEMI"(with glasses on).

Sort of makes driving my truck even more fun. Being retired with nothing better to do, I can drive up and down the Interstate training my eye and looking (squinting) for the "C" :) .

I'm not done yet, but I picked up a set of '01 sport badges last week to put on my '03. I just need to finish de-badging it so I can get the new stickers on.

What one of us needs to do is approach one of these sign-makers that do all the automotive graphics and have a 3D Cummins graphic done in red for the new Dodges. I think we could get away with that as long as it appeared to be an airbrushed copy and not a reproduction emblem. I for one would be a buyer, maybe I should check into that? Any of the rest of you interested? We have a local business that does all of the area graphics for law enforcement vehicles. Surely a few red letters and a pair of black lines would not be very tough for them at all. Do any of the rest of you think it is odd that the website's spell check catches Cummins all the time? Maybe I should look to see if I have it right. :D Glen

A couple of ideas we have been working on

This is probably not at all what you have in mind, but it is something I have been working on for some time since my friends and I were disappointed that there is no badging for the HO, and the HD, and some want a classy back window/or tailgate piece for a “cummins shakes it” piece.

The octagonal will come in a hitch cover, strong high quality long lasting ceramic adhered to 1/8” steel, welded to rolled steel and drilled to make a hitch cover, and also in high quality ceramic backed with the kind of foam that the badges are attached by, and possibly in FRP (fiberglassed reinforced plastic), both for back window or tailgate applications.

The rectangular pieces will be available in 2500 and 3500 both, in tough strong ceramic, steel backed tailgate, or under the hood maybe on top of air conditioner condenser protection piece et al, or window applications, and possibly in FRP as well.

I will be wrapping up the final work and selecting which images we want to use and building the first prototypes soon, but the guys are favoring these last images most and are pressing me to hurry <<grin>>.

Like I said, probably not what you had in mind, but there are those of us here in the Denver area who feel a need to express ourselves like you are all talking about.

We do this sort of specialty stuff for folks like us who feed their dogs raw “Wolf Rations” so when we were asked to do this, it seemed like a good project.

I have linked to another website here and these will take a couple of moments to load since they are high resolution graphics like will be on the badges and hitch covers.

There is a link to another page showing how they might look on back windows or as a grill badge or if you wish one can click here...

How these might look on back window or Grill Badge

Badges, stinkin' badges!

GSevison: There's a lot of detail in those, not bad though. Personally, I'd be more willing to spend the bucks on something that resembles the Factory lettering and in chrome or stainless. I too am disappointed that there is nothing to distinguish an HO from an SO.

Wow-- looks like we got one started. I did not want to mislead you guys, but mine is an 02 ;) I really like the 03 Cummins badge and plan to add at least one to mine. either at the 03 location or right behind the side window. I'll admit there are some things styling wise I do not like on some of the 03's, but they are ''growing '' on me.

The whole thing is, it's not quite as easy as it used to be to point out all the Dodge Cummins trucks to all my gasser buddies-- and drive em' nuts :D

daveshoe,

The looks grow on you slowly, but slide behind the wheel and that ugly duckling turns into a swan real fast.
