Greg Hogue brought out the Dr. Performance Dakota. Keating brought out the "Keating Machine". Bully Dog brought out the "Pinks" ride. Joe Hellmann and Jeff Prince brought out the Texas heat. They all came out to the TS Performance Outlaw Challenge.



They all came out whether they were 100% or not. They showed up!!!



Maddog was there, Jim Fulmer was there, David Lott was there, the list just goes on and on.



After years of internet smack, they all came out. It doesn't matter who won, it doesn't matter who didn't, what matters is that they came. They did their best to entertain all of us. And they did it well.



Most all of the regular Pro Street racers made it. Tons of spectators made it. Vendors came to support it. The pits were covered with people checking out the rides and vendors.



To EVERYONE that came out to make this as memorable of a race as I have been to, thank you.

David, I could not have said it any better. I will be back next year for sure. A big thanks goes out to TS Performance, David, and of coarse all those who showed up to make this one awesome event.

Right on David..... this was by far the best gathering I have been a part of. I didnt think you could get that many "hitters" to put feelings aside and show up together, but they did just that. Way to go Dennis, you put on one helluva show.

I think it was a great show with a great bunch of people. I think it was cool to finally see all those trucks and people in person that I usually only see in magazines and on the internet. TS Performance really put on a great show and I cant wait for it to happen again next year.

Pro Street Recap...



The challenge for Saturday was applying the massive amounts of horsepower on hand to the track. Ambient temps were in the upper 90’s, which resulted in a greasy track surface and a tough day for the 2wd trucks.



On hand to show off their hard work was the Bully Dog Dodge race truck, Joe Hellmann, Jeff Prince, Darren Morrison, Phillip Palmer (Stuckey Racing), Jeff Garmon, Kevin Merideth (TS Performance), Mark Svatek (No Limit), and Buck Spruill.



Qualifying would prove the end of the day for the Bully Dog ride, Joe Hellmann with an 11. 20 @ 120mph, and Darren Morrison with his event low ET of 10. 88 @ 118 mph.



The six remaining teams would pull their guns out and not only duel it out with the competitors but the track as well. Round one gave Svatek a bye run of 11. 69 @ 115 mph. Merideth also had a bye run of 13. 55 @ 70 mph.



The first pair was Spruill and Prince where Spruill carried his starting line advantage out the finish with an 11. 01 @ 125 win to the slower 11. 56 @ 129 from Prince. The second pair was Garmon against Palmer who was holding the events top mph of 135. Garmon with the starting line advantage and Palmer with some problems netted an 11. 29 @ 128 win for Garmon.



Round two had Garmon facing off against Spruill. Starting line advantage went to Garmon in what looked like the best race of the day when traction forced Garmon to lift near mid track. Spruill blistered a 10. 97 @ 125 over the slower 14. 22 @ 63 of Garmon. Merideth would face Svatek in the second pairing. Merideth would once again blister the tree with a . 045 reaction time (he’s just good folks) and take the win with an 11. 30 @ 118 mph over the slower Svatek at 11. 74.



This put the final round between TS Performance and Buck Spruill. The last standing cowboys, reloaded and faced off at the TS Outlaw Challenge. Starting line advantage again went to Merideth but the Chevy Duramax of Buck Spruill just pulled out a bigger gun and would win the Outlaw challenge with a new personal best pass of 10. 89 @ 126 mph over the slower 11. 24 of Merideth.



This was the largest field of heavy hitters in the Pro Street scene to gather at one race to duel it out on the same track. This is what the fans, sponsors, promoters, and racers want to see more often. Thanks to everyone that came out to entertain the crowd, and of course a huge congratulations to Buck and Jess Spruill for winning the race and being the first to put a Duramax in the 10’s.

I do know of one person that was trying to make too many changes that resulted in several set backs for a few months, the end results was lack of time for a new combo. The week before the event proved to be a PITA for me rebuilding the Twins with a wastegate, different pump, injector and turbo setup. I finally had to just stop and say..... it's not going to happen! So with my tail between my legs I loaded up the Sonoma and headed off for the event just to be there and had the time of my life.



Those of you that didn't come missed it, you missed allot! If you have a chance to go to one of these events go, don't think about it... . GO!

All of those guys gonna be at IRP? Im guessing there will be more pro street at IRP?

I actually made the TS race after working insane hours the week before, and not sleeping at all friday to saturday. . The first time I ever drove the truck was from the pits to the drag strip. . I should have just dynoed it, and set the trans controller, though I chose to make a pass with just three gears, no OD or TQ lockup. I came out easy, and then layed on it. . As soon as boost hit, I spun and popped a head gasket. . After the initial hit, I drove it down the track under part throttle. . Still ran 94 mph in the eighth, so I know the power was there for a short burst. . I look forward to the next race to say the least. .

I wasn't overly upset popping the head gasket. I was just very excited to see it has a lot of potential. I was also very impressed with the amount of quick trucks at the event. . TS performance went out of their way to help me out, and they put on a GREAT event. . Can't wait for next time. .

David, thanks for the excellent play by play! It does really sound like a great event. For those that broke, well, that's just the name of the horsepower game; at least you went for it, and probably learned something to boot.
