Got new tires today and went with a 285/75 16 but the stock steel rims seem to be too narrow. they had some american eagle baja wheels for a good price but the weight rating was 3100# each and i was wondering if that is good enough?and will they be strong enough. thanks!!Oo.

The A/R Baja should be plenty good if you like the styling. The weight rating is more than enough for any 3/4 ton truck. The only drawback is it is that a cast wheel under hard (off road) use may crack. Perhaps someone is selling the factory alloys from a newer truck? They have about the same rating, but their forged construction makes them less susceptable to cracking under hard use. Just my $. 02 humble opinion.

if the stock steel wheels are the 7. 5" wide ones, you are ok. that is the minimum recomended width for a 285/75/16 [m/t says you can go to a 7" with their mtx's]

if you do want wider ones, those ar baja's would work fine. . they need polishing [do they have clearcoats?] from time to time. .

and you can search the classified ads in news papers or buy&sell type on newspapers for used factory wheels...

Thanks, for the info. tried a set of late model alloy wheels but they will not clear the rear drums. i think I will go with the baja wheels as the stock rims are 7" wide. the tires have a little to much crown with the smaller rims. I was told that the rims do not have clear coat witch is ok, with 4 kids one will always be cleaning ha ha !!
