Oil Change in Arizona

What is everyone using as far as a maintenance schedule? I did first oil change at 3450 mi... ... ... . which after finding this forum I wish it would of been sooner... ... ... ... . after looking at the Cummins web site it says 7500 for oil changes and the maintenance booklet says 3750 or 7500.

I have 9000 miles and I did my second oil change today after reading the booklet and I am wondering if I went over the allotted miles between changes.

I hope I didnt cause any problems.

You didn't cause any problems. Use schedule "B" and change oil and filter every 7500 miles. The more frequent oil changes apply to California vehicles. And no one drives according to schedule "A". Hope that helps.

Your never gonna hurt your waranty by changing your oil at 3500 or 4000 miles. If in doubt, change it more often than either schedule and keep VERY good documentation on all maintenance Rotella is only $6. 87 a gallon at any walmart and a flleetguard oil filter is under $10 if you look around. . Thats only $31 for an oil change on a $30,000+ truck.

I bought a book of coupons for 12 oil changes/lubes from Chrysler for $250. Simple math is $21 per visit--cheaper than I can buy the materials, and I don't have to crawl under the truck on my gravel driveway. Only drawback is that the coupons are non-transferable, but as I run about 5000 miles per month I'll have them used up before the truck is 18 months old. Seems like a good deal to me, but working the grease gun always did tax my mechanical ability. Jeff

Jim,

If you don't have a "California Truck" your maintenance interval should be 7500 miles on the "B" schecule and 15,000 on the "A" schediule. Look at the stupid little symbols on the chart. There has been much confusion about this.

I live in the country so my shortest drive is 15 miles. I do a little towing, about 15,000 GCW. It doesn't get too cold and we don't have dust. I was thinking that 10,000 mile intervals would be about right

As far as the schedules go I use the schedule (B) like most, but I believe the part about changing the rear end oil every 15,000 miles is a little extreme to some one that does not tow that often. If I towed daily I would myself probably change according to there recommendation. If you notice in schedule (A) there is no mile recommendation to change the rear end oil. There should be a moderate schedule for moderate towing (every so often that is). :D
