What shocks to buy?

92 D350. Front shocks, any suggestions? I was leaning towards Bilsteins. I'll take any input you guys have, good or bad.

While I'm sure there are differences between your 92 and my 01 I vote for Rancho 9000's. I'd imagine you can get them for your model year but not sure. I put them on to keep the truck steady while pulling my camper. They even make a big difference when empty. I love them. They're adjustable to nine different positions depending upon load. Look around the 'net to buy them. I was able to get a buy 3 get one free deal. I know you said front only, but if you could find that deal might be worth it to do all. Good luck.

For the money, a set of Pro Comp nitrogen charged would work great. They can be had for less than Bilsteins and the quality is excellent.

I like my Bilstein 5100s. And my Dad has always used Bilstein on his '93.

Ditto on the Bilsteins. I ahve run several others, and none of them were worth the cardboard they were boxed in.

Rancho 9000s might be good for off road, I don't know, but for the street I did not like them. They are not gas charged and rode too rough.

My next ones will be Bilsteins.

If you research shock technology, and the companys that make shocks, and their opinions, you find that Rancho shocks are garbage along with most of the "cheap" shocks.

A 7100 or a 9100 Bilstein is a great shock for the price. The valving is kinds off though, but it works okay for the price. You can get them custom valved, but you need ot know what you need.

I am going to get 9100 Bilsteins for my 1st gen here soon. I wanted to get some that are easier to adjust the valving(hence LOTS more $$), but I dont plan on spending that much time in the truck at 5. 12 per gallon #@$%!

And for the record, my 1st gen has had 3 different sets of Ranchos.

Auto Zone!

Yep, Been running them fer about 10 years on the rear axle. They gave up the ghost (rusted out, leaked) and were replaced on warranty. Did the front as well when I replaced the rears, in 2006. They work great. No big outlay of cash. I operate my daily driver under some very nasty conditions, ice and snow on dirt roads that dont always get plowed when you need to travel, potholes and washboards, with lots of mag chloride thrown in fer good measure.
