I would recommend checking the head for flattness, then if needed mill the head flat. Lapping the head can help get a good seal on it... ... You can index the injectors to get them all exactly the same and do some mild port work. If you really want to go all out really port the head and install some good valve springs and retainers. All of this goes along with what has been said above as far as checking out the head, replacing worn guides and seats, and O-ringing it.
I would recommend the 12mm studs to finish off the package.
