Hey guys I have been sent over seas for 7 months. I left my truck in the garage and didn't do anything to it but put a can of sea foam in the fuel. My wife won't drive it but will start it if I ask her to. Do I need to do anything or just leave it as it is? Its a 02 with 13000 miles. I know but I am away a lot.

Not sure where you are located at, but I would have her start it at least once a month to keep the batteries fresh. ;)

I'm in Nashville, Tn. . I think she will start it and let it run for 30 min. or so. If I rember someone posted a thread a fews years ago that said that there was nothing to do to the engine but I can't rember. Thanks

I am no expert on this but letting a diesel idle for 30 minutes isnt good. If the truck cant be driven then just maybe start it for a minute or two a month and thats it. Put the batteries on a charger and top them up monthly aswell

ill tell ya what ... ... . send the truck up to me and ill drive it while you are away and make sure that it dosnt sit for 7 months :-laf

Mine sat outside at a commercial storage lot for 9 months, including a harsh east coast winter. Didn't do anything to prep it - just locked the doors.

It was a 60* day when I returned. On approach to the truck I hit the door popper and the door locks clicked - good sign. Put the key in, turned it over, and it fired like it was last run the day before.

This was with 15,000 miles.

I'd let it sit and wouldn't start it at all if it can't be driven.

Since your wife will be around why not have her take it out and run it to the store every other week or so? IMHO that'd be better than just letting it sit... .
