Dave Smith says the new truck should be ready in a week or so - is there anything I should be on the lookout for? 2004. 5 4DR 3500, 6SPD, 2WD, DRW.

Any advice for a newbie owner?

thanks

I would check all fluid levels. After 100 miles I thought it would be a good idea and happened to find the crankcase was overfilled by about 2 quarts.

I was suprised and I hope there wasnt any damage; but I think being reduntant and checking may be a good idea. Good Luck.

2004. 5, 2500HD 4X4, auto, 4. 10 LSD.

Look over the paint and body extremely carefully BEFORE leaving the dealer lot. Techs doing pre-delivery inspections, recon guys cleaning the truck, and lot gremlins can leave small dents and tiny scratches on your truck. These things just happen sometimes, but it is a dealer's responsibility to deliver a new vehicle in new condition to the customer. If you can prove these things were wrong with the truck at the time you took delivery, the dealership has to fix it. Basically, I like to find out what's wrong with the truck before I get it home and can't prove who did it.

Geno's tech section has a list of things to do at delivery time - including the 70+ mph test drive.....

I'm hoping Big Bob will meet up with me at Dishman Dodge when my '04. 5 FINALLY arrives sometime next month.....

WARNING! Whatever you you do, if you don't do anything else, never forget... . to wipe that **** eating grin off your face as you pull out and onto the road. It's hard to see when your smiling that hard. Congrats.

I just picked mine up yesterday. :D Everything is great so far but I did notice a lot of fine sand (I think from the train ride through the Mexican desert) under the hood and in the window moldings. I am concerned that it may scratch the windows. I tried to remove it myself but could not get it all. BACK to the dealer it goes. It is a very fine tan colored sand.

Lower your windows and run your finger across the felt on the bottom seal ... . if it's there you WILL feel it.

Congratulations and good luck with yours.

I would ditto the Geno's list. I took the list and a set of tools/coveralls and did my own inspection.

My only complaint was who ever drove the truck put dirty hand prints on the driverside grab bar. Plus, it was the first I became aware of the two tone interior - taupe on top and dark slate below - weirdness :(
