Here's the problem... yesterday, after coming back from Austin (65 mi) I had a HUGE puddle of oil coming from under the truck... really freaked me out, till I noticed a screw that holds on the fuel shutoff solenoid backed itself out of the AFC housing, letting all the oil leak from out of there... . I did not realize that much oil went through there! Well, my question is What size are the screws because I need to get this black beast back on the road! I love the Z-71, but it has no get up and go. All replies are appreciated!

I hope the aluminum threads in the gov housing aren't stripped. The bolts are M6 x 1. 0 x25 mm. The two against the head are 16 mm long, and 18 can be used. There should be a flat and a split lock washer under each screw.

Slid a plate back towards the rear last week on a truck to lower egts, Piers was the last one inside the housing. Each screw had two flat washers each, any idea why?

I had that issue in Muncie, I now have helicoil in the two lower holes as those are the ones that will leak or pump oil all over the place in my case, I got the M6's like Joe is talking about and a spare set just in case, the helicoil kit 6mm is about $30. 00, now added to my spares kit!

There is no metric sized lock washers.

If you look carefully, one may be a metric wavy washer. Not sure what purpose they serve either.

I love the lock washer myth. Traditional lock washers hold by gauling. To prevent damaging the base metal we use a flat washer. Doh, you just defeated the lock washer, but meet spec.

If you want fastener locking on smaller hardware use purple Locktite®.

Good point, I have always wondered about a lock washer against a flat washer and figured the only way it made any difference is the flat washer applies more resistance to turning against the nonmoving surface than a bolt head due to larger diameter.
