I will be remotely mounting my Westach fuel pressure gauge soon and want to know what inside/outside diameter fuel hose I should get.

Does it even matter what diameter it is as long as I use the 1/8" NPT fittings?

I was looking at the Steve St. Laurent post on the f/p gauge set up and he said to use 1/8" INSIDE diameter fuel hose. My local auto parts store doesn't even carry that small of a diameter fuel hose. 1/8" is not that much!

Thanks!

Steve

I may be wrong but I don't think it will make any difference. You are measuring pressure, not flow. Smaller size may dampen pulsations better.

I'm using Parker 801 hose, 1/4 inside diameter, for my remote-mounted sending unit. This is a black poly/rubber hose suitable for most all oils & chemicals.

I used 1/8" OD plastic tubing. My local NAPA has it bulk,15¢/ft, it is compatible with diesel. I pushed the small tubing though an outer sheath of 1/4" tubing to protect it from chafing, cuts and kinks. Over two years with no problems. On a 12 valve you will also need a gauge snubber or needle valve to stop the pulsations. This one works for me, you can also turn it off if you have a leak.
