Sorry, I have a cheesy selection of wrenches and dont have one large enough to fit the nut that I believe screws the fan clutch to the water pump? I need to replace my fan blades as I bent them up pretty good putting the motor in the Crew so I need to get the clutch and fan assembly off. This is on a 1992 model CTD if it makes a difference.

Would like to pick up a wrench tomorrow to finish the job, what size do I need?

Thanks.

36mm fan clutch wrench. Can be had from Napa. It's a flat wrench. I bought in a kit from Napa, the wrench and serpetine belt pulley holder tool.

A 1-7/16" wrench will fit the fan nut. Bought one to pull the clutch off mine last year. I don't remember for sure but I may have used the grinder to open the wrench up a little so it would fit. You are on your own as to how to hold the belt! I used a clamp and clamped the belt on the alt pully so it couldn't turn. (belt needed to be replaced anyway!) :)

Another way to remove is to use an air chisel with a blunt chisel and place it on the edge of the nut. Don't forget the nut is left handed and to remove you turn it clockwise. I did mine this way a few weeks ago and it was easier but if you are going to reuse the clutch, I suggest you buy a wrench.

most napa stores if they are cool will let you buy the tool and then return it in about 30" when you finished changing the fan. .
