I measured the nut and it seems like its a little bigger than 1 5/8 and smaller than 1 11/16 (maybe metric?) By the way its not as big as 1 7/8

Mine has been leaking for a while. It is on my list of things to do in the next few weeks. I would also be interested in what size it is.

I went out and got a 1 7/8 socket and its too big won't even fit into the yoke. So it's between 1 5/8 and 1 7/8. Why must they change from year to year?

I was told by my "rear end guy" that he took an 1-7/8" Craftsman Socket (he said craftsman because sometimes they are a bit thinner than other sockets), and ground it down on the outside of the socket till it fit down onto the pinion nut, he is its a tight fit, and thats the only way he has found to fix a Dana 80. I hope this helps, I havnt done it myself but, this is how I was told. How is everyone else fixing their pinion shafts, this same "rear end guy" ordered me a sleeve for mine, since the eniter shaft from dodge is $189. He said, (Course this is probably obvious to all you other smart people) to use in his words "a #$&% ton of grease when putting them together, because if you dont it will wear a ring around the shaft. Hope this helps
