What size deep well socket do I need to pluck the MAP sensor? With the truck at idle of off, my OBD program reads 12 psi.

This may be part of the problem I am having (not really a problem) with the amount of smoke my truck can make with stock injectors and the EZ on setting 2 or 1. It may think it has the needed boost for extra fuel/timing even at idle.

Scan tool reads absolute pressure. Atmospheric pressure is about 14. 5psi at sea level. So at your altitude you will see about 12 psi.

Then there are 8 Dodge and Fords around Denver with broken MAP sensors. Everyone else at idle or off read 0. 1 psi. that I hooked up to.

Is there a way to test the map sensor? Voltmeter or something?

I thought it was a 32mm (1 1/4") deep socket so I went and bought one today, and it is way big.

The truck is a 2002. Did they use a different part number MAP sensor in different years?

Below is boost vs Map output voltage for 2001 and newer. The output is 1 volt per atmosphere (absolute).

PSI-Volts

0-1. 045

6-1. 48

10-1. 75

15-2. 05

18-2. 27

20. 5-2. 45

They must have changed the map sensor socket size on your truck. mine is a 2000 model. If you can find on onhand some were measure it since that is impossible to do while it is on the engine.

Since I have to return that socket I bought anyway, I will just keep trying them in the parking lot until I have a winner.
