My Y2K 2500 came with the 265x75 (might be 265x70) 16" tires. What's the best option for replacement size with BFG A/T tires? I wouldn't mind getting a taller tire without sacrificing width, to fill out the wheel well a little better.

I rarely tow, but want nothing less than load range D, prefer range E tires.

Ideas? Suggestions?

Greg

Greg,

I had 295/75 BFG AT's on 16x8 Ultra wheels on my 2500. They looked great. A little wide, but still looked good. Load rating D (3415 lbs. @ 85 psi).

I still have them and would like to sell them, if you are interested.

I'm not positive, but if your talking about putting new shoes on your stock aluminum rims I *think* that they are 16x7's not 8's.

Your subject line read 16x8's.

I just put on 16x8 Alocas like Forrests' with 285/75's BFGs and I'm real happy. Well except for the clearance between the tires and the Mopar mud flaps. They're gonna hit offroading.

If your truck has the WDZ option the dealer book lists them as -

WDZ - Wheels 16 x 8. 0 Forged Aluminum

I think most of the newer SLT and SLT+ trucks have those wheels.

Anybody looking to sell their stock 16x8 aluminium rims ?? I like the looks better than my "96" chrome wheels.

TMc,
The newer stock 16x8 wheel won't fit your 96 without modifications to the front an rear brakes. I like the newer wheels too, but IMO it's not worth the headache to put them on an older truck. It's easier to buy aftermarket wheels.

The aluminum wheels are 16x8 on the new ones. I would like to have 2 more to run mud grips in the winter. Most places think they are gold instead of aluminum. The new wheels will not work on the older trucks. I just put new wheels on a 98 and the 01 wheels wouldn't fit on it to trade while at the dealer. I kinda like these after getting used to them.
