Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) What starter to buy

I have a 96 with 180000 with a starting problem. New fully charged batteries but sometimes turns over verry slow but will start. I am thinking it is time for a starter. Any one else have this? Where is best place to buy a starter? I got a price of $175 for a rebuilt at Advance auto.

When my starter goes out I am going to buy one from Mean Green. They have twice the torque pull half the amps and are made in America.

I talked to Paul over there today and he gave me the run down on his dodge cummins alternator and starter. Do a search on TDR for alternators and you will see a lot of people are happy with his stuff. He told me his website is out of date and that's why the cummins stuff doesn't show up.



I talked to him about becoming a TDR advertiser and maybe giving a TDR discount. He was very receptive of both ideas.

I got mine from Larry B with the super contacts. been happy with it ever since. For fun I tore down my original, could have used the contacts for a razor, and had brush residue all over in the motor. Probably rebuildable and once I get time might give it a shot for giggles.

I rebuilt mine with contact set and brush assembly from Larry B's. Works like new. It was doing the exact thing yours is.

I second hsmith. . with 273,000 miles on the clock I have done mine twice and it is still working fine. .



First time with the standard size contacts and second with the over-sized ones. . Make sure and replace

the plunger along with the contacts.
