Ever Been Disappointed By Your Role Model?

I tend to find good people wherever I go, all across the U. S. and Canada. Let me ask you, which is more annoying or weird, a bunch of liberal activists out to inflict their save-the-whales-or-the-environment on you, or the small rural towns 100 miles from the nearest interstate, population 10,000, 15 last names :D full of gossips, snoops, and Barney Fife police departments?

Quite a diverse country, just from one county over to the next !!!

SMALL rural towns with a population of 10,000!? That's a sprawling metropolis compared to our town of 600!! Strange is a relative term, I can think of a number of states that have "strange" people - each in their own unique way :D . After the last major election though it was interesting to note the giant sea of red all across the nation and some select small islands of blue - those states that had the largest blue areas seem to have the most "different" people to me.

Excellent point.

I'm doing all I can to try to move away from the blue ASAP. :D

that's the way it is around here. if you're apart of the police/fire dep. in any way, you'll never get pulled over. but if your some "typical" punk kid that can be profiled quite easy, then prepare to get pulled over a lot. and the gossip crap, oh man:rolleyes:...

I'd say CT, Stratford to be exact... :-laf

I have been in the hills of Virginia and West Virginia... definetley some unique individuals there!

As soon as I read the title of this thread I instantly thought of California!

MMeier, the only reason Seattle, WA is so screwed up now is because of all the migration from California in the last decade or two.

Thanks for Californicating what was once an awesome place to live!

I swear, of all the guys I work with, I'm the only "home grown" guy left.

Good God, Briar Hopper!!

Our whole county is about 100 miles long and 50 miles wide and it has fewer than 22,000 people. Our BIG town is over 4,000; my town is 1000. Guess we must fall into the category you referred to ;>)

Now that you mention it, there are a few strange folks here about, heck, some of them seem to think I am strange.

I believe Steve got it right, the blue areas of the country, during our last presidential election, on the voting map on TV, seem to best represent the areas with the largest collection of weirdos. :D

Vaughn, we have a lot of big "little" towns all over Kentucky... . nice little pockets of ignorance here and there... :D

Well I was going to say, most people I run into around hear seem a little wierd (and I've been hear since '89), then I think of the isolation and such.

After reading more of this post I realized the other people weren't the wierd one's, it's me when I get somewhere new!

There's been more then once that I've stepped off the plane in SEATAC (the Seattle Tacoma airport) and wanted to turn around, get right back on it and fly home away from the crowds.

Come to Iowa, we have all this :( :D    Oo. :{ :-{} :--) and more. If you ever make it to Boone or Jasper counties it will remind you of the song da-da-da-da-da-dew-dew-dew The Beverly Hillbillies all over.

Hands down Seattle. Its definitely not the whole state. I have lived on both coasts including Los Angeles. Hollyweird has nothing on Seattle. They own the whales in the Sound. It's a mix of big city and freak.

If your missing any squishheads from your respective states, they all moved to Lawrence, KS. Please come get them!!

Squishhead= treehuggin, granolla eatin types ("EEK!!! You broke a grassblade, now it will die, you MONSTER!!").

Boone isn't that bad. Used to be there all the time.

Try Fort Dodge, particularly after dark. :--) Stay away from the mall at night. Why do you think they call it "Little Chicago"?

Or Ames? Bunch of morons there too from the University.

Bmoeller I agree that Ames has some freaks and morons for drivers but Boone county out in the "boonies" by the Kate Shelley Bridge in the woods in the dark is a little hairy, you definatly don't go without a gun.
