What states have the worst roads

Thanks, TDR Staff

Sorry. Have to vent about tires!

Brake controllers

I seems like it is alway the one I am driving in. Why don't we quit using all of the State money on education and spend it on the roads.

Alaska is a beautiful state but.....

Alaska has by far the roughest roads that I've ever towed over. I've only been there in June and July but the highway north out of Tok junction was brutal.

Can I vote for my home state? Michigan roads pretty much suck. The salt, freezing temps and years of relaxed enforcement of weights has taken a toll.

I couldn't agree more. I-40 in Oklahoma caused the interior ceiling in my TT to collapse. I was able to pin it back up easily, but what a ride.

Well, I'm glad to see no votes for Arkansas.

Arkansas is spending almost a $Billion on I-30 and I-40.

The State color is now orange. There are more orange barrels in Arkansas than people.

The road only cost $400Million to build. The rest is probalby going in someone's retirement fund.

US71 in Missouri gets my vote. When going North to Kansas Speedway, I get off US71 in Missouri at Butler and cross over to US69 in Kansas. US71 is brutal from Butler on to I-435 in KC.

Forget the state, try Petaluma, Calif. Any surface street in town will rattle your truck apart. I saw an article the other day in the paper saying that the estimate to repair all the city maintained roads is ~$142million. The current yearly budget is at ~$8million..... Wonder if it will ever get better?

I have traveled all over the 48 contiguous states, and have to say Louisiana has some of the worst roads in the country. Especially I-10. Which I travel often. My wife once said that I could blindfold her and she could tell me when we get into Louisiana.

20 years ago I would say Pennsylvania. But they have improved greatly. Now I'd say Ohio is much worse.

Did ride on one stretch of interstate in New York last weekend. I'd just say the ladies should be sure to wear some support!

As many of you know, Pennsylvania's highways WERE the worst in the country. That's right, you read that correctly, I said were the worst. The latest survey from Overdrive magazine, who bestowed the Commonwealth with that title from 1990 to 1998, ranks Pennsylvania as second worst behind Arkansas. However, the Keystone State placed first under "Most Improved. " This page will go into detail on some of the highways that help Pennsylvania earn the title of "Second Worst Roads" or "Most Improved Roads depending on your take. Read about the latest survey from the November 2001 issue.

More Rankings:

Most overnight parking: (1st)

Best truck stops: (3rd)

Best rest stops: (5th)

Toughest truck inspections: (4th)

QRTRHRS, I drive thru PA fairly frequently. I'll admit a good number of the bad places have been, or are being, upgraded. Good stuff. Still, there are a few rough areas, with my favorite being I-83 in east Harrisburg.

I think my pet peeve is now with the PA turnpike authority, where the road crews set up 10 miles of one-lane traffic on the turnpike and leave it there, whether they're working or not, whether they're working one spot or many.

Everyone runs 65 in an area posted for a 45 work zone, cause nobody's around. Then they continue to run fast, even in a true work zone with people present.

Before someone jumps me, I'm aware that I-95 in our commonwealth is terrible.
