Great job on this post and learn a lot

All you guys did a great job on this post. I learn a lot and won't forget this. Just wanted to thank you all for this information.

Years ago when I had an Isuzu Diesel and could not find a wrench to get the filter off, I built one and have used it ever since.

I took a C Clamp Visegrip, cut the far legs off about 1/2 to 1 in from the bend.

In use you place the filter betwixt the complete opening so you have surrounded the filter and snaper tight.

Works every time, never have had prob with space or filter spinoff. Have used it on many vehicles and filters.

Oil filter wrench

I used the tried and true screwdriver and hammer on the original one. After that just cheap fluted filter wrench, if it's too tight to remove by hand.

To get the factory gorilla filter off, I used my harbor freight plier-style wrench and torched the handles bending them 90 degrees. Fits right up there and worked great.

Not that these tools are great, but I have always used just my hands. Has always been when you install a new filter fist oil the seal, then hand tighten and then back it off slighty... ... ... ... that is the way I was taught, then just remove using your hand. Just wondering if you need a tool why are you guys putting them ojn so tight? Just wondering... ... thats all.
