Last week a friend told me:

"I heard Dodge has a new Hemi diesel"

And another friend said:

"Isn't a V8 better [than the I6 Cummins]?"

I get these arguements all the time.

People in general just think V8=good, 6=wimpy. That's why the other guys sell more diesels, I guess.

OK, I'll bite. The Hemi you heard of is a gas motor which is offed in the 03 2500 and up ram truck.

I doubt there is such a thing as a Hemi Diesel.

The Inline 6 is a much better configuration than a V-8 . 30% or more, less moving parts. Until the 03 model you could look at a Phord or Maxipad and see the differance. You could not see the engines for all the wires and tubes. The Dodge was wide open until they made the engine room smaller.

It's Bill Ingvall who is a good friend of Jeff's. Rumor has it he originally invented "You might be a redneck if... " but it didn't work for him and he let Jeff have a crack at it. Guess it worked for him. ;)

six cylinder ?

Every where I go, I get "wow that's a big truck" or "COOL TRUCK" followed by "is it a V8 or a V10 ?" I just love the looks I get when I say " Nah, it's a 6"

Priceless, for everything else there's Mastercard. :D

Preach on Brother!!

Well, I am going to rat myself out on the misinformation thing, I didn't get the whole inline 6 thing for a long time. I have owned many a Jeep with a 4. 2 Inline 6 and always thought it provided good performance and power for my CJ's, but I was awed by the awesome throaty sound of the V-8 304's and 360's. I mean everybody knows V-8's are the shesnits. .

When I grew interested in diesel pickups I narrowed the field to PSD's and Cummin's (would sell any Chevy you gave me lightening quick at rock bottom prices just to get my name off the title. ) Luckily through Jeep clubs and such, I became acquainted with a few diesel mechanics who explained the superior torque virtues of a inline 6 and the less moving parts and the reliability of the Cummins. With those recommendations and a family friend's statement ringing in my ear "a 1/2 Dodge will do the work of a 3/4 Ford or Chevy. " I made my decision...

Dodge needs to do a better edumacating the masses and showing them the light. Then everybody can come on down to the promised land. . ah, and drink from the golden cup. . ah!! Amen, brother!! Drive on with ya' Cummins. . ah!! But don't drive on. . ah until I pass the plate around. . ah! Praise the Dodge. . ah and the Cummins. . ah!:D

Ive only owned 1 v-8 in my life. Although I have owned several dozen vehicles. The 1 V8 is in a 72 Nova SS. Huh they made the none ss's with a 6. Maybe I made a mistake. Today I own 3 I-6's. There is not a motor That I love more than the 6. Well maybe a boxer 6 is on my christmas list but that is another story.

Thems there new Hemis are packing a mean punch per liter. Im reading some truck article and its like a bunch of 300-350 ci against the little old 240 hemi. It holds its own. More power per liter than the other big boys. Its making power like its turbocharged.

Screw all that my next truck is gonna be the cumming v10 diesel or chevys new v10. Not reel sur which tho. Heard it all. What about the new 6 speed auto with a clutch thats in the new dodges.
