maybe you guys can help me out here. I was going to buy a dell computer and to finance it i had to get a credit check done. . I have paid my bills on time. Ive never been late once... I am 18 years old i entered all of my info etc... Then it said it found my records and asked if i did finaced a morgage in 1999!!!!!!! i clicked none of the above... . i didnt buy a house when i was 16   . Then it asked me how long did i finance it and i click none of the above... . so then this screen pops up says BLAH BLAH BLAH... then if i dont cancel something i will be charged 78 dollars anually...

Anyone know what the hell is wrong here... . now im really worried. . is it possible someone stole my identity or something...

I think we need some more details - is this an online credit check from Dell? Or some internet company? Need to know what you're clicking on!

Is you name and your dads really close to the same? My credit report showed that i bought a house in 1973, i was not born until 1974, My first and last name are the same as my dad's, but a different middle name. It was his house that was showing up on my credit report. It was not as easy to straighten out as one might think either.

I had a whole bunch of judgements against me on mine. I didn't really know what they were, the date on them was very old. I told the gal on the phone I was 8 at that time, do you issue judgements to 8 yr olds a lot?

It ended up being dropped off because it was so old, it never effected me obtaining any credit though, apparently there someone else with my same name running around. Isn't that what SS numbers are for?

If you have been denied credit for any reason , the three credit reporting agencies are obligated to give you ,free of charge, your credit report. Check clarkhoward.com and it should show you how to write the letter to them.

Watch out for free credit check on line or something like that on the net. It is free..... but you will instantly start get spam.

I've seen these questions when I'm verifying who I am while getting a credit report from one of the three, don't remember which. Answer them correctly and it spits out your credit report. It's just a way of verifying you are who you claim you are.

Now, if the information in your credit report is wrong and it shows that you have a mortgage, I'd call the credit reporting agency and get in touch with a customer service rep and get it investigated. It may be that they've made a mistake in the reporting and it should be corrected.

XcX... I forgot to mention when I posted earlier. There is a certain procedure (and a form to fill out) for challenging your credit history. I've done it with 2 of the 3 big bureuas... . goto their website it explains everything right there. I try to annually get a current credit report, remember anytime you apply for credit you are entitled to a free copy of the report also.

experian, transunion and i can't remember the other one off hand.
