What did BFG do to their tire prices? I priced a set of 33x12. 50x16. 5s today and they were $185 a tire. Just last month they were $149. I had to resort to ordering them from National Tire and Wheel. They still had them for $149 Kind of reminds me of fuel prices

The Tire Rack Had a Explanation on their website www.tirerack.com that said BFG had a New Policy, Its is Called Value Pricing!, Frankly I dont see the Value in it.

But according to the Local shop, BFG Has set Minimum Price's on all of the Tires to compete with other tire makers.

The is the First time I have ever heard of raising the price of a product to compete with others.

So, No More BFG's for me. If i'm am going to pay $180. 00 for a tire, Its going to buy Super swampers or something else.

Great, Just when I find a tire I like the company goes and does something like that. The guy at NTW told me they had several instock and would sell them for that price unil they had to reorder.



So now I need to know if anyone knows of another tire that wares as good as a BFG MT and performs as good on and off road and that isn't $180.



I'm mad enough right now I'm going to the BFG website to see if they have an email address.

General AT's and MT's seem to last a little longer than the BFG's. Could be the BFG's have a softer compound, but I bought the BFG's because I like there white letter style better than the Generals.



My next tires will probably be Generals for the price.

Might want to consider Good Year MT/R tires. They are very aggressive and about the same price range. For offroad use, I would say the MT/R is a better tire.



I run Super Swamper for my Toyota FJ40. Super Swamper is great for a dedicated offroad, but for street use, expect 20K miles before needing new tires.

I run 33 x 12. 5 Swampers on my Wrangler and sure didn't pay any $180 for them. When folks no longer buy them, BFG's attitude may change.

I've been very happy with my Americas Tire Pathfinder ATRs - looks sorta like a knock off of the BFG All Terrain. 60K treadwear warranty. 315/75R16 were ~$120 each - not sure what they run now.

Are you aware that BFG sold out it's tire manufacturing side to Michelin about 10 years ago?

I sent BFG and email on what I thought about their raising the prices on their tires and they sent me a repley back today. They said that I should keep checking other dealers for better prices that the price hike was only in sertain areas. I will email them back tonight and tell them I don't want to have to drive from Indiana to California to get my tires for my truck and will not buy their products until they return to their old prices. I know this will not do any good but I just think I should let them now how some people feel about paying $180 dollars for a tire that most likely doesnt cost more than $40 or $60 to manufacture.

I have owned two sets of BFG AT's and loved them, but I'm not going to pay 700-800 dollars for a set of tires!!!. I'm going to try Futura Dakota tires from PEP BOYS. They are made by Cooper Tires, have a 50K mile warranty, and look almost identical to the BFG's. Best of all they only cost 400-420 dollars for a set. BFGoodrich can take a long walk off a short pier!

A few years ago I needed tires on my 2wd Suburban - I went to a local tire store here in Albuquerque (New Mexico Tire & Battery) and bought 4 Multi-Mile 31-10. 50x15 Radial RVTs. Multi-Mile is the brand name. I put close to 50k on those 4 tires and when I sold that POS the tires looked like they would have still ran another 50k. I always ran 45psi and they handled like they were glued to the road.



Just another brand to consider. When I have to replace the Firestones that are on my Ram (previous owner put them on) I'm going to be checking on the RVTs.



Check your yellow pages - you should be able to find that brand in your area. The first 2 I bought was in '92 in a little town just outside Philadelphia, so they should be nationwide.

While you are at it tell them that you belong to a club that is nation wide and we wont buy there tires either until they fix the price gouging>

I am ready to buy some BFG MT in the spring and will hold off until you get some resolve. I have many options of tires to choose.

I'm running the same tires on truck (285/75-16) and they seem to be holding up well. I don't have enough miles on them so I cannot comment on how many miles I'll get out of them. Anyway, the Multi Mile brand is made by Kelly Springfield. A little noisy on the highway, but not too bad.

My tire guys is a BFG reseller and he told me the story of what I'll call "price fixing" by BFG about 2 years ago.

Places like tirerack and Costco were selling BFG's at such a low price that the small guys couldnt compete... and BFG wanted to keep an image... of not being a cheap discount tire... so all those that want to sell BFG can not sell the tires cheaper that the price set by BFG. If BFG catches you selling BFG tires cheaper than your allowed to. . you loose your BFG rights...

Thats what he told me... so in theory you should see relatively consistant BFG pricing.

It sounds like BFG is going to price themselves out of the market.

The BFG all terrian and mud terrian are good general purpose tires, but in the world of real off roading Super Swampers rule.



I believe BFG will change the strategy when they start losing market share to Good Year and other tires. I'm sure the h*ll will not pay 185. 00 for some 35 inch BFG tires.
