I know I shouldn't be surprised by DC but they got me this time. Was looking at the Mega Cab, just what the doctor ordered. Found one that I liked and was going down the window sticker and couldn't find the "HD plow prep package" on it. So I looked at a bunch more, couldn't find any truck with the Cummins and a "plow prep", found a lot with a gas engine. The deal is this. You can't buy a mega Cab with a Cummins and hang a plow on it because of the weight of the Cummins. WTF is wrong with these people at DC??

They're probably thinking about overloading the front axle/tires.

That said, I'm sure you can get some KORE HD Coils and solve your problem.

Based on the Dodge website, you can't buy a QC LWB with the CTD and Snow Plow Prep group either. You can purchase a QC SWB or Reg cab model with CTD and Snow Plow Prep group.

I would agree, because a larger percentage of the cab/engine weight is over the front axle with the LWB, a snow plow would put you over the front axle's max weight limit.

Gotta figure that the Cummins is about 3-400 pounds heavier than the gas. After putting a plow on the gas engine Mega Cab it would seem that truck is right on the edge. No matter how it is equipped.

Trust me when I say the snow plow prep group was not worth worring about. .

Mostly a big battery and alternator (both which are standard on diesels) - and oh yeah, computer selected springs - not stiffer, just computer selected. .

Dont worry about it

Easy for you to say. I'd hate to be the one pulling into a DC dealer with transmission problems at 10k with a plow frame hanging on it. Bye, bye, warranty.

So true, it may not be much of a package but if you are going to put a plow on you better have it if you have a problem and need warrantee work.

I noticed when i was reading the warranty book if the dealer equips a truck with a plow then it is covered under warranty if the truck does not have the snow plow package.

It is very doubtful that you would be able to find a dealer anywhere that would do it.

A friend of mine told a dealer "put a plow on the Mega Cab and warrantee it and I'll buy it". Didn't happen.

From what my warranty book says, NO TRUCK that breaks while plowing will be covered, not even the trucks with snow-plow prep. I asjed my service rep, and he told me the same thing.

Its not that I'm saying the SP prep is not needed, more so that it does not matter when it comees to warranty, Either way the warranty books reads that any direct breakage due to plowing will not be covered.

I would check with your local dealer's service manager and make sure he and you are on the same page before purchasing with or without the snowplow prep group

BTW - here what comes in that group:

Ballast would fix that problem. Many sandbags in the bed. Hang what you want on the front.

Only if the ballast is as far back as possible, and then, if you are at the rear bumper, you need several hundred pounds of ballast for every 100 lb you want off the front axle. Divide the distance between axles by the distance of ballast from rear axle to figure the exact ratio.

I think if you buy a hitch platform an place 10-15 sandbags on it, that will do the trick
