Competition Head sealing tricks for daily drivers?

Competition July 4Wheel & Off-road - 500+ hp diesel

Just curious what the thought process is behind choosing a particular type of tire for sled pulling. I've seen everything from Boggers through M/T Claws to almost bald mud-terrains. I know there needs to be a balance between wheelspin and grip, but by that thinking, it would seem that the guys with BIG power would be running the most aggressive tires. Can anybody help me out here? Thanks in advance.

Chris

My BFG-AT's are getting pretty thin & I only got a few 2nd & 3rd last year getting beat by mud tires eveytime.

So I'm trying mud tires this year.

From just my visual observations from track side the past two years medium sized radial mud terrains usually dominate. More radical tires like Super Swampers or Boggers usually have to much traction and most times end up breaking something.

I know there was a Maroon/Red 2500 Reg Cab on 35" Mudders  last year that was VERY impressive. He was able to keep his wheel speed up, and not cause massive carnage which is what I mentally predicted when I first saw the truck. Normally you just don't see many pullers out there running anything larger than a 33" tire.

Just my $. 02 from the sidelines#ad

Thats what I am looking for right now, A set of half wore 33' mudders or a set of good BFG AT's 33's My 1/3 tread 285 mudders are just not enough after the winter upgrades. Dean

I drive in with my street tires 36" x 14. 5" Parnelli Jones dirt grips, Pull, and drive home :) (knocking on wood) I do have a set of new 35" SS Boggers in the garage though :)

They let you pull with the 36's? I had thought 35" was the max dia. ? Or is this only certain pulls? Thanks for the replies, guys!
