I paid too much in taxes last year. I will get enough back to make one of the following purchases: 1) Smarty

2) 3. 42 gears front & rear

3) TST PMCR-49

I am interested in preferences. I am leaning towards Smarty. Would like ya'lls opinions.

Thanks

Andy

mileage gains

Because I plan on tires a couple inches taller, I am inclined to keep my 3. 73. I guess what I am interested in knowing is what is the advantage of Smarty over TST, or Quadzilla for that matter.

Andy

Well, I don't have a SMARTY or a TST or a Quadzilla but from what I have heard the SMARTY is the best programmer for the 3rd gens and is undetectable by the dealer. Whether that is true or not I don't know. The problem with the SMARTY, as I have read it, is that it will destroy a stock transmission and you can not change the settings on the fly. I am pretty sure the Quadzilla you can change on the fly, and doesn't it have a bunch of gauges built in? I know nothing about the TST but I think a lot of people use it to "stack" with other boxes. You might be best off getting a stronger clutch first. Just my . 02. Good luck.

The smarty is a great thing if you can control yourself with it. It WILL destroy your truck if you just go to romping on it. The instructions and website will show you what you can run it on without risk of damage. Also on the website you will see a list of other downloadable FREE software you can use now and as you upgrade you truck.

My airbox mod, cool hose and intake horn were all easy and fairly inexpensive mods. They have helped milage and hp. A FASS or other fuel system might not be a bad idea. I believe my injectors are bad from poor fuel and/or filtration. The three micron filter came too late.

Oh it you get the Smarty plan on a clutch soon after. I have a hard time controlling myself so I bought a South Bend DD Sprung Hub 3850.

If you are not looking for all the power and want safety go with the Smarty JR, it's so safe you down need gauges.

Don't for forget some type of after-market lift pump.

I am thinking: 1-gages, 2-Smarty, 3-Airdog, 4-FE or OFE(not sure), 5-Aurora 3000, 6-four or five inch exhaust from turbo back, 7-pipe bumper made from 4" spiral heavyweight, 8-TRAIN HORNS, 9-Lorenz suspension. That should keep me going to work for awhile, unless I win the lotto.

Andy

IRA--I wish. Those are just the things I am planning. Probably ony Smarty and gages for now. The rest as I can afford. Which SB clutch?--FE or OFE? I also like the idea of seperating the dissolved air in fuel and a 3 micron filter:)

I figured the IRA comment would go over like a lead ballon. It was good advice. Enough said good luck with your upgrades. I too need to go the gauge route as time permits.
