I know the title of this post seems a bit trivial but it is a valid question. Several months ago I messed up the rear end of my truck. With time being short on my hands it has been impossible for me to get my truck back together. Well I started today and should have it finished tomorrow sometime. What I am curious about is should I do anything before starting it? Maybe dump a bit of oil down in the valve cover to lube the upper part of the engine a bit? The truck has been sitting about a month and a half outside.

If anything please let me know.

Thanks,

Jason

Starting

Anything you can do short of pumping oil through the oil gallery is not going to get the pill where the pain is. Pouring oil in the top might lube some of the valve train but not all. I would just start it, watch the oil pressure gage and make sure the pressure comes up quickly, then let it idle a couple of minutes to lube things up. Should be ready to warm up and drive. bg

Makes me nervous, but I'll do it... ... ... ... I really didn't think there would be to much that could be done.

Thanks B. G.
