What to do? I pulled twice this summer and officially got a forth and a second. The forth was a slimy clay track and I would've won it but the call the pull off because of rain before the pull-off. It was a dually class and everyone had street tires except for me, I had Mud Terrains.

Anyways, the pull the other day I was second, there were about 20 trucks, including 460 big blocks and powerstrokes and durmaxes. #1 was a duramax at 280 feet and then me at 274 feet, then another duramax at 270 feet and most everything else was around the 250 foot mark or farther back.

With my 4. 10 gears I've been pulling in fourth gear low range and at 3200 that is good for just over 28 mph. How can I make sure I beat these guys, I know I need more horsepower but how can I compete against something like a 12 valve with 3. 55 gears and 35 inch tires turning 4000 rpm? If he pulls 4th low he'll have 43 mph of wheel speed, I'd have to run third high to equal the wheel speed. How can my 24 valve be really competitive? Do I need to go to 3. 55 gears? Would a redline box be the ticket?

Stop worrying , as there is no 12 valve in your neck of the woods that has the power it woud take to do that!!!!!

Stay away from the Redline, I have seen them do next to nothing on the pulling track this year, and burn pumps up last year.

I would suggest an Allison.

Also, your limitied slip is slipping limitlessly. Get the front and rear locked up, that will gain you several feet.

A locker for the rear is in the plans for this winter. There is a 12 valve around that turns some extra RPM and has a flame coming out of his tail pipe and he spanked me at a pull last year, but he was pulling in 3rd low.

He wont be able to run 4th low AND turn 4000 rpm with 35 inch tires. (How sweet it would be, though!)

You could try a taller tire, but make sure you can still turn the 3200.

I was thinking it would be nice if I could find someone to swap differentials and boxes with to make mine a single rear wheel to make different tire size options available.
