well i thought what i have done so far would cure my bomb bug it did for a couple of months but it is back again :-laf i dont know what to do next i dont think my stock trans can take mutch more. should i rebuild the one i have or save up for a better one :confused:

How about trying a flat plate, that is what im gona do. Im also putting a TC Lockup Switch and a shift kit. When do you use your switch, in what gear and about what speed? Because our trucks are similar i was wondering how the performance would be.

if your lookin to have some decent power someday, then do the transmission right the first time. imho i think the tc lockup switches are like putting a band aid, on a wound, only for it to get worse. do some research on the various transmission companies, (DTT, suncoast, ATS, Gorend bros. , BD,) and choose the one that your feel has the best product, and best customer sevice, and go from there. call each company. all of the listed above, and any if didnt mention, they will take the time and answer your questions, tell them what power level your looking at in the future, and they can help build the transmission that suits your needs. i choose the company that i felt had the best product, it in my sig.

dieselnatsy i only use the tc lockup switch once the tc has already locked up so i can keep it there i have tried it from a dead stop and it goes from first to lock up :--) it makes a big difference but it seems hard on the junk trans :{

The transmission is a 47RH. There is no controller box for it like the 47RE with it's electronic governor. The switch works differently on a 47RH too because the switch valve in the VB is different.

Jesselee, you might want to read this thread to see how to use the TPS to maintain a lockup on a 47RH: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=128962

Also, you might want to PM Howard Durand about the way he has his switch set up.

Note that hitting the brakes will drop a TPS held lockup so you may need to use the switch in down hill trailer towing.

In any case, if you increase your power the stock trans can't take it.

Start saving your pennies! Also don't destroy your transmission, as a lot of the "big boy" installers (like DTT, ATS, Etc... ) will rebuild your transmission with the upgraded parts.
