When your turbo went I was just wondering as to the circumstances of the blow. Did you "bark" it? Was it a long pull, what were the boost and EGT readings at?

Reason I ask is that it would seem if you keep the boost below say 40 and the EGT's down below 1250 like is recomended I wouldn't think you would ever have a turbo problem. It should take either too much heat or boost to kill one.

Thats one nice thing about the EZ, you can't get too carried away

I have to say that 7x7 on the TST sounds a little extreme for towing, by what I have read in other posts. But I bet it was fun for awhile

EGT and Boost numbers would be really nice to know. And how do you Bark a Turbo?

I wonder if that is similar to the turbo chuff that happens when the 48re hits lock-up at 50mph and the load is just right. The abrupt drop in rpm's slows the turbo so fast you get a pressure wave in the exhaust.

Pirate4X4, I hope I didn't miss this info somewhere in the thread... . Since you said there were foreign objects setting on the top of #6 piston I would pull it as well. I have seen an instance in a gasser where material on the top of the piston pounded the piston down on the rings. When I pulled the piston I said to myself - whats wrong with this picture? The rings were all stuck in their grooves because of the pounding on the top. The piston may be OK but better to check now than take apart again.

Good luck.
