What to do with ULSD and BIO??

I have not figured out what will happen to my 03 HO with this new fuel coming out. What should I do to keep from hurting it? Additives ,filters ,etc?

Nothing. The new fuel should be better than LSD. My only concern is that the lubricative additives have to be added back into the fuel at distributer (I think). Could be a oppurtunity for someone to cut corners to save money. If you are concerned, run an additive. I'm not planning on doing anything different.

A two cycle ashless oil 140:1 mix or a qt. per tank (Valvaline). That being said D/C cant wait to void warranty, per tech at my Dealer. He says there is no need for it or any other additives and I confirmed by Cummins tech support same thing. I cant afford a voided warranty and will wait for it to end before using it.

I do also believe that the new fuel won't harm our older engines... but I'm not going to take a chance.....



I'm going to add back one of the chemicals used for dropping the gel point... they also add lubrication to the pump... these are all approved by cummins... so there's no problem there... and we're just going to use it all year long... .



Each of my trucks has a 125 gal tank in the bed. . so were looking for the right brand that comes in the right size container to drop one container in the tank and fill it... . and throw the empty away..... we don't want to store an open container.....

What is the name of the chemical that Cummins approves of and what is the proper mix? Two stroke oil should be OK per a lot of different persons from this site that are using it as of the new USLD was delivered. I cant say it wont harm the fuel system but it should not be a problem burning it the cylinder for it is designed to be burned. I was worried about using it and losing my warranty, so I asked the tech. about the new fuel and what I had in mind, and he verified that it void the warranty. I then asked about any additive that would be approved of for our CTD and he stated he did not know of any and it was not necessary for my engine.

i know valvoline makes some sort of cummins approved fuel system aditive they also make cummins approved oil too

When is ULSD going to be required at the pumps even? We are still using LSD here. . ULSD on base though.

We've all been using ULSD for some time and just don't know it. It's been in the pipe line for awhile but they won't call it ULSD until the old stuff (low sulphur diesel) has been flushed out. Also, the lubricant will be added so you don't need to add anything if you don't really want to. Your engine should run fine.

I'll keep using Power Service or Stanadyne (they include a lubricant) as usual just to be on the safe side.

Yeah I meant the pumps are still listed as LSD.



I did notice whatever fuel that Pilot is getting lately foams up alot more than normal. Before it would click and I would fill it up until the foam came up to the top, wait for it to go down and do it again and it would be fuel up to the brim.



Now it takes me a good 3-4 mins of pumping/letting the foam settle down until the tank is actually full.
