I just got the new rig and I want to know any "special attention areas" that may be the case on this truck. I came to know the '99 2nd Gen truck like the back of my hand and experienced most of the little "idiosyncracies" that went with that model. Are there a set of insider-info tips to know about this new beast?

Thanks allot for your time.

Steve

The oil pressure gauge is fake on the 3rd gens. Just to be safe check your oil level often and/or install a manual pressure gauge in the cab or under the hood. Its important to check incase an injector sticks open & fills the crank case with fuel.

Congrats on the new truck

Also they don't like to be left to idle. the injectors carbon up. Search on here and you will find the cummins clutch switch part number (like $25. 00). This lets you run the high idle while sitting from the cruse control switch.

Besides that, follow the engine oil/rear/trans change guidelines in the owners manual.

Also search on problems about the trailer with wire harness shorts blowing out the PCM. in 2006 they removed the fuses from the turn/brake feeds to the trailer harness, some of us now run in line fuses in the trailer harness. I bet the fuses are missing in 07 also.

Enjoy it!
