I have a rokktech muffler to install and want to loose the kitty at the same time. What is cheap and going to keep the truck's stock sound level inside. :)

JoeErickson,

If you lose a kitty the sound level will go up, no way around it, if you need a pipe that bolts on to replace it we have those, but you will hear more volume, be prepared!

Mark @ DPPI

Its really loud no matter how I drive it it still sounds like a semi driving up the rd

If you delete the muffler the tone is nice and exhaust temps dropped on my truck 250 degrees towing or empty. sounds sweet. Got the pipe from Geno's

You will get a lot of injector noise if you remove the kitty w/ a small muffler. I had the mbrp duals and wittled them down to just the muffler dumped before the axle and it sounded terrible. Ended up getting the magnaflow 5" turbo back (no cat) and couldn't recomend this system enough, $545 to your door. Hope this helps.

I want to really open up the exhaust for EGT reasons, but I need to keep the 05 truck as close to quiet as stock. What are the best options? I was thinking that either dual mufflers or a really long single (if it will even fit) would be the answer, but I am still unsure as of yet.

Anyone up in far north CA or southern OR with a truck I can listen to?

Does anyone know if removing the muffler will cause any warranty questions? I asked the service manager at the dealer where I bought the truck and he said that it was possible but he wasn't sure. He suggested keeping the stock muffler and reinstall if it had to be taken in for warranty work. Any comments?

Thanks for all the imput. My thought was to but a small glass pack style muffler where the kitty is and run the roKtech behind it. I need to cool my egt's down, 1200 when pulling my trailer at 70 mph with a light head wind. I have a long trip plan'd and don't want to listen the drone the whole way. I have ridden in a truck like mine with dual 5" and no cat, just a bit to load when towing. Will a glass pack like the Dynomax race muffler do any good? Will this affect my egt enough?

I spoke to a couple of dealers and they told me we can do anything behind the cat, My neighbor is a Diesel mechanic at a Dodge dealer and thats what DC is telling them, he did say they recently had a truck in the owner had removed the cat and it did cause some drivability problems. I have only installed the muffler delete pipe and exhaust temps did drop about 250 degrees, Runs about 600F at 70MPH empty, pulling long grades with 10000 lbs in tow it doesnt get to hot dont remember exact # but didn't have to let off last summer goin through the mountains in Maine, outside temp was about 90

Remove the Cat, clean it out completely, then reinstall it (for inspection & warranty purposes). Just get some 4+ inch inside diameter pipe fitings and extra clamps to reattach where you make the cuts.

Its definitely louder but sounds so SWEEEEET  Its not to loud inside the truck and has a very nice tone. With the delete pipe and the AFE cold air & torque tube it sounds like a Peterbuilt. I get comments all the time on how nice it sounds, especially under load. I guess its all a preferance anyways I just wanted to drop exhaust temps and get a little more sound - Diesels aren't supposed to be quiet its kind of like my Harley that sounded Honda-ish :( now both sound the way they should.

Our trucks are EPA regulated and its a huge fine if its ever discovered.

Also many states are going to be doing emission testing and without the Cat they may not pass, Its not like the cars were I have to take my truck to a truck garage to get it inspected a regular inspection station wont do it.

FATCAT how are you. I sent my nephew over to Foss motors from your former recommendation on my old truck. They fixed him right up with a new lift pump and VP44 pump Thanks for the recommendation.

P. S. I still love the new truck
