ok so i have been reading and it seems a lot of people are stacking the TST with the smarty? I currently have the banks pda and the smarty and was thinking about ditching the pda for something else... what do yall recommend? I have also tossed around the idea of getting rid of both and buying an edge hot juice and ez module. TIA guys/gals

I say definitely keep the Smarty, and get rid of the PDA. Smarty is coming out with a HOT program that adds pressure, so the need to stack a pressure box with the Smarty may not be needed. The TST would be a good choice to stack, but it will get extremely hot, really fast with the stock turbo. Your best bet for more, safe, reliable power would be to sell the PDA and buy a larger turbo. I know its not as cool as a new do-dad in the cab to play with, but it will make you faster and safer than just stacking another box. A buddy of mine runs a Smarty/TST stack with the stock turbo, and he cant even get on it for more than 5 seconds because the egts are buried past 1600. What is the use of having extra power if you can only use it for 5 seconds, while destroying the engine? Keep the Smarty buy a turbo and studs, you will have way more fun and be ALOT faster. ;)

when will Smarty be coming out with that new HOT program? also what turbo do you guys think would be good? I have been looking at the new HTT turbo or the silver 62 maybe... but do you guys think i need that fancy of a turbo or would i be just as good with a plain ol ps 62 or some comparable turbo?

I say go with the Silver 62 or 66. As for the stack...

I know I am going to stir the pot when I say this, but the BDDL has done me very well. Crazy Larry makes some good power. They work well with the 04. 5's and above.

I like the idea of having the smarty hot version, i hope it comes out soon. as for the turbo with the smarty and what ever else you decide to stack i would recommend either the silver 62 or the new HTT which ever you decide. either way i would recommend a set of head studs if you upgrade turbos. with the smarty and if you stack it you will be able to build alot of boost very fast. just my . 002

The smarty is dynoing this week, The numbers look great and we did get higher hp numbers vs the scary larry :D

Will this new "HOT" program work on the 03-04's?:D

CB - you want to pick your turbo based on what you do with the truck. i. e. if you tow, you may not want a 66-series charger. A 62-series would work better. If it is a daily driver, a 66 would work, but might be a little laggy. Turbos aren't one size fits all. And studs aren't a necessity, either, if you aren't blowing past 50lbs of boost all the time. Of course, I'll wish I hadn't said that when I'm replacing my head gasket. :D

Ooh yeah! Lookin forward to hot smarty!!! Will it be downloadable on the net for my current smarty? just wonderin if Id have to buy a whole new one...

also with the HOT smarty programming is that gonna be just a high level thing or will there also be pressure for the lower levels as well?

Wow I didn't see a trans upgrade in your sig, I would definately do the trans and turbo before swapping out the PDA for a TST. Of course that is 7grand vs 7hundred. With my mods I use the TST for timeing only (I still havent found aSmarty timeing that works for me). Mind you, I have injectors but the duration from Smarty on level 2 or 4 gets plenty hot and smokey without adding MORE duration from the TST, and that is with a 66 class turbo. Given the mods in your sig you already have plenty of fuel, you need air and some trans work, no offense meant gentlemen.

so back to the question of the HOT programming... will this just be for the higher setting or will there be more power for each setting?

Amassaro how do you like the silver 64? any problems like surging?

I don't tow and I really don't know what surging feels like. Can you explain exactly what surging does?

The only problem I see, so far, with the Silver64 is at certain trans shift points. If I'm into the throttle more aggresively or driving like an old lady, there is no problem. If I drive "average" which is hard to define, I'll get this wooshing noise that starts right before a shift and is really more audible right after the shift, especially going into OD. I'm learning to drive around this. Is this surging or barking? I'm really confused as to what is what in that respect. I've never heard anything that made me cringe or anything that "sounded" like I was going to hurt something. From reading about what others say about "Barking", I don't think I've done that, yet.

Otherwise, this turbo spools very well, as far as I'm concerned. It is probably my low end stack that helps. From 1600rpms and up she pulls VERY hard. First vehicle I've driven in that pulls harder than my Chevelle w/509bbc. And I haven't even buried the throttle yet because the headstuds are sitting in my shop...
