Competition Sled Pulling, How is it Done?

Competition Racing a Duramax

Yeah I remember my old auto shop teacher telling me about this. He then asked the question "why do you think he didnt win" Well I answered TIRES. He told us during the race his tires blew. Well thats all I know dont know if its true or not.

Fact is that the car was the first ever car on the Brickyard with a turbo charger. (good trivia question for motorheads)

During the race, the turbo inlet was too close to the track, and picked up rubber debris from the track, and plugged it. Otherwise, it likley would have won.

There is a movie about it, and I have shown it at Vo-Tech schools in the past. Good history lesson.

I love the photo caption: "Dale Evans is at the wheel of the Cummins Diesel Racing Car. It was the first diesel racer built in the U. S. It placed 13th in the Indianapolis Race of 1930 without making a single stop for fuel, water, or tires. "

Rhonda, we haven't waited that long, as a matter of fact there has been many delays in culture development. The Pilgrims had to persevere through the sickness of 1620-21, the drought of 1623, and the visit from the Locusts in 1633, and lets not forget the great Hurricane of 1635. Now, New Plymouth wasn't exactly a nicely lighted arterial w/ flower pots and a Winchell's donut house on every corner, they had Corn dealing Pilgrim gangs that wouldn't hesitate to shuck someone w/ a 9 then, run from the 5. 0. So, the next time you see a model “T” just remember the effort Ford put into building that conveyer belt.
