What transmission do I have and how much oil?

03 6 speed.

Drained out oil and only got about 3 qts? I pulled the shifter because the fill hole is so low there is no way a lot of oil is going back in according to everything here 6-7 qts?

Searching for NV capacity now. Nothing in my owners manual either?

So it appears I must have the NV5600 based on how much oil I took out? Searched here and see that it takes 5 qts. Some over fill some don't I also read. I am throwing in 5 tonight and waiting to see what the experts here say for the AM.

It was enough doing the t case and trans tonight after kids went to bed.

If you are using it hard towing, over fill thru the shifter. If not then just filling thru the fill port is adequate.

I went through the shifter. 2 extra quarts. When putting everything back together I put some pink insulation under and around the shifter boot. made a difference in the noise in the cab.
